Cynthia Nazara
Cynthia Soon Hee Nazara, 71, of Holualoa, died Feb. 9, 2019, at her home. Born May 27, 1947, in Honolulu, she was a Hawaiian cultural liason, a business owner, commissioner for Kaloko-Honokohau National Park, president of Kona Hawaiian Civic Club, council member for West Hawaii Fisheries and Hawaii Island Burial Counsel, and board member for Kona Historical Society among other positions.

Nolan Beirne George, 81, of Waimea, died Feb.14, 2019, at his residence. Born August 31, 1937, in Honolulu, he was a retired business owner and rancher.

William Ahuna
William “Cowboy” Kahiki Mehau Ahuna, 78, of Pearl City, Oahu, died Feb. 28, 2019, at home. Born March 27, 1940, in Hilo, he was a retired Hawaii Army National Guard Lieutenant Colonel.
Friends may call at 8:30 a.m. March 21, 2019 at Dodo Mortuary chapel in Hilo for a 9:30 a.m. service. Burial follows at noon at Hawaii Veterans Cemetery No. 2. Family requests casual attire be worn.

Haleloke “Hale” Goo, 82, of Hilo, died Feb. 28, 2019, at Hawaii Care Choices Pohai Malama Care Center. Born on Feb. 13, 1937, in Hilo, she was a food and beverage manager for the former Hilo Lagoon Hotel.

Alfred Kuniyoshi
Alfred Seishi Kuniyoshi, 90, of Hilo, died March 2, 2019, at Hilo Medical Center. Born Feb. 9, 1929, in Hilo, he was a retired night auditor for Volcano House, U.S. Army veteran, and member of Taishoji Soto Mission and Lower Kawailani Kumiai.

He is survived by wife, Miyako Kuniyoshi of Hilo; son, Greg (Lisa Kang) Kuniyoshi of Hilo; daughter, Sharon Kuniyoshi of Hilo; one grandson, numerous nieces and nephews.

Clarise Amar
Clarise Evelyn Valensona Amar, 82, of Keaau, died Feb. 23, 2019, at Hilo Medical Center. Born in Hilo and raised in Keaukaha on the Big Island, she was a homemaker, macadamia nut picker and a custodian at Keaau Middle School. She also was a member of the Holy Rosary Mission Church in Keaau.
Friends may call on March 22 at Dodo Mortuary Chapel. Visitation from 6-9 p.m.; prayer service at 7 p.m. Casual attire; flowers and lei are welcomed. A graveside service will be held on March 23 at Alae Cemetery (new section) at 11 a.m.

Yoshiharu Fuse
Yoshiharu Fuse, 93, of Hilo, died Feb. 2, 2019 at the Life Care Center of Hilo. Born in Mountain View, he was a retired carpenter for the State of Hawaii Division of Forestry, member of the Taishoji Soto Mission and a veteran of the U.S. Army during World War II.

Nathan Lee
Nathan Lee, 53, of Lake Villa, Ill., died at home March 14, 2019. Born in Honolulu, he was a graduate of Hawaii Preparatory Academy and the University of Wisconsin – Madison. He worked for various financial institutions in Chicago in software sales and support.
A memorial Mass will be celebrated on March 30 at 10 a.m. at Annunciation Church in Waimea. Visitation at 9 a.m.
He is survived by his wife, Jolene (Haefs); sons, Evan, Andre, Oliver and Isaac; daughters, Lauren and Lucy, all of Lake Villa; mother, Patricia Lee of Kamuela; brothers, Jon (Amy) of Santa Ana, Calif., and Timothy, of Eden Prairie, Minn.; sisters, Erin (Susan) Lee of Kamuela, Tina and Maria Lee of Tucson, Ariz.; nieces and nephews.
Julie Uyeki
Julie Yaeko Uyeki, 89, of Hilo, formerly of Pahoa, died March 13, 2019, at a care home in Hilo. Born Jan. 30, 1930, in Kapoho, she was a retired registered nurse for Hilo Medical Center, volunteer for American Red Cross, American Heart Association and RSVP, member of HGEA Retirees Club, Hilo Hospital Retirees Club, Pahoa Higashi Machi Kumiai and Pahoa Nikkei Jin Kai.

She is survived by sister-in-law, Jane Uyeki of Hilo; numerous nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews, great-grandnieces and great-grandnephews.

Maude Toyozaki
Maude Sueko Toyozaki, 93, of Hilo, died Feb. 19, 2019, at the Hilo Medical Center. Born in Lanai City, she was a retired sales clerk with the former Western Auto Store and a member of the Hilo Meishion.
Visitation 4-5 p.m. March 23 at the Dodo Mortuary chapel. Funeral service at 5 p.m., followed by cremation.
She is survived by her son, Milton Y. Toyozaki of Kurtistown; daughter, Deborah (Gaillane Maehira) Toyozaki of Hilo; sister, May M. (Robert) Sueyoshi of Gardena, California; one grandson; nieces and nephews.
