LIHUE, Kauai — A California man has been sentenced to 10 years in prison for sexually assaulting a child while visiting Hawaii last year.

The Garden Island reported Sunday that Judge Randal Valenciano handed down the sentence for 56-year-old Mark Price last week.

The La Mesa man had pleaded no contest to second-degree sexual assault.

Authorities say Price sexually assaulted a 10-year-old during a visit to Kauai in May.

Prosecutor Justin Kollar says in a statement that prosecutors were satisfied with the sentence that ensures the “protection of the public from this predator.”
