Ishii leads Kamehameha to 22-0, 4-inning victory over Kohala

Kamehameha picked up its fifth win this season by mercy rule Tuesday afternoon, defeating Kohala 22-0 in a four innings road victory.

The Warriors’ Rydge Ishii led the offense with a three hit night, including a triple and four RBIs. Ayson Mar, Bryce Furuli, Kalanikealii Marquez and Brycen Nakata had two hits apiece.

Tai Atkins picked up the win on the hill, allowing no hits and striking out six in 2 1/3 innings. He also had one walk. Kaizen Kapuni-Lankfo threw the final 1 2/3 innings, allowing one hit and striking out one.

Kohala’s lone hit came from Quinton Hook.

Legend Libron took the loss, allowing 12 runs in two innings, but only six earned off 11 hits.

Kamehameha (9-0) will travel to Kealakekua next Tuesday to face Konawaena. The Cowboys (0-9) will host Keaau on Saturday.

KONAWAENA 7, HONOKAA 1

The Wildcats rebounded from their loss to Waiakea on Saturday by spreading out seven runs over seven innings against the Dragons Tuesday evening.

Jake Basque had a perfect 2-for-2 day at the plate, including a double, two runs and an RBI. Batting cleanup, Kanai Rivera also went 2-for-2 with four RBIs.

Bronson Rivera had a multiple hit day for Konawaena, going 2-for-4 with an RBI.

James Kapela nearly threw the entire game, exiting with two outs in the seventh inning. He allowed one earned run off three hits, striking out 12 and walking two. Bronson Rivera picked up the final out, striking out the only batter he faced.

Cane Perreira stood out in the Honokaa offense, going 2-for-3 and making Kapela pay for his lone mistake on the day, taking a pitch deep for a solo home run.

Jake Bannister threw 4 1/3 innings, taking the loss after allowing five runs off four hits and a walk. Justin Birch threw the final 2 2/3 innings for the Dragons, allowing two runs and four hits, and striking out three.

Konawaena (6-3) will host Hawaii Preparatory Academy on Thursday. The last time the two teams faced, the Wildcats lost to Ka Makani 3-2 on March 6.

Honokaa (4-4) will host Kohala on Tuesday.
