Nenita “Noning” Fontanares Llantero, 82, of Hilo, died March 25, 2019, at the Hale Anuenue Restorative Care Center. Born in San Felipe, Zambales, Philippines, she was a teacher in the Philippines and retired as a teacher at Keaau Elementary School, and was a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church.
Visitation 6-9 p.m. April 9 at Dodo Mortuary chapel, wake service at 7 p.m. Visitation 8:30-9:30 a.m. April 10 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Mass at 10 a.m. with burial at Homelani Memorial Park. Casual attire, no flowers.

Andrea “Ann” Gamayo Mejia, 65, of Kurtistown, died March 14, 2019, at Hawaii Care Choices Pohai Malama Care Center. Born Nov. 22, 1953, in Hilo, she was a police officer for 30-plus years, a YWCA Hawaii Island’s Remarkable People honoree, 2009, former background screening coordinator for the Catholic Diocese of Honolulu and member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Keaau.
Friends may call at 8:30 a.m. April 9 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Hilo for a 10 a.m. eulogy and 10:30 a.m. Mass. Burial to follow at Hawaii Veterans Cemetery No. 2. Family requests casual attire be worn.

Emily Kawailani Kamaka, 84, of Holualoa, died March 16, 2019, at home. Born in Kailua-Kona on Nov. 13, 1934, she was a retired bartender at the King Kamehameha Hotel, a member of the Holualoa Athletic Club, a matriarch of the Kamaka Ohana and a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Visitation will be held at 9 a.m. April 13 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Kailua-Kona. Funeral service will begin at 10 a.m. with burial to follow at Kona Memorial Park in Holualoa. The family requests casual attire and flowers are welcome.

Born in Haina, he was a retired plantation supervisor for the former Hamakua Sugar Company, former P&R Paauilo Association Recreation Center director, Alu Like youth counselor, security officer with Mauna Kea Security and Honokaa High School, member of Big Island Basketball Officials Association, Orchid Isle Umpire Association, Little League Association, volunteered for several sports activities and athlete organizations and was a veteran of U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War.

Diana Holmes
Diana “S” Holmes, 70, of Nanawale, died March 27, 2019, at the Hilo Medical Center. Born in California, she formerly worked in retail, was a social justice advocate and political activist fighting for equality, a member of the Open Arms Metropolitan Church, Pu’ula Congregational Church and was one of the first transgender delegates at the National Organization for Women (NOW).
A celebration of her life will take place at 11:30 a.m. April 14 at the Open Arms Metropolitan Church located at the Ainaloa Longhouse on Ainaloa Blvd., with additional services taking place at a later date at the Pu’ula Congregational Church. Casual attire.
She had no local family but many local friends and acquaintances.
