KAILUA-KONA — Hawaii Fire Department has responded to a brush fire at Old Kona Airport Park at the north end of the runway this afternoon.

A chopper is currently on scene doing water dumps onto the blaze. Hawaii Fire Battalion Chief Bill Bergin told a West Hawaii Today reporter on scene the small brush fire started in the area of a homeless camp. There are no permanent structures in the area and no reported injuries at this time.

The park remains open at this time. This is a developing story more details will be provided as it becomes available.
