Parker School’s Dramatiques premieres ‘Broadway’s Best Musical Revue’
Parker School Dramatiques is proud to present “Broadway’s Best Musical Revue,” the school’s first-ever musical revue presented as two different programs for a total of six dynamic performances this month.
The first program is family-friendly, open to all ages and has the following three show dates: 7 p.m. Friday, 2 p.m. Sunday, and 7 p.m. Saturday, April 27. This program features lively songs and lovable characters from several different classic and well-known productions.
The second program is a PG-13 mature content show containing numbers and themes from contemporary musical theatre, with three show dates: 7 p.m. Saturday, 7 p.m. Friday, April 26, and 2 p.m. Sunday, April 28.
Each of the six performances in “Broadway’s Best Musical Revue” will be performed and produced by more than 30 students involved in Parker’s after-school performing arts program known as Dramatiques.
Tickets are $12 for adults and $6 for students, general seating. The all-ages show is free for children ages 5 and under, with one paid accompanying adult. Tickets are available, by cash and check only, at the door 30 minutes before curtain or through Dramatiques cast and crew pre-sales.

Aloha Theatre announces cast of next play, ‘Harvey’
Harvey is in town. He’s a 6-foot tall invisible white rabbit, and he decided to hang around for a while after Easter.
“Harvey,” Mary Chase’s award-winning American comedy, has just been cast and is in rehearsal at the Aloha Theatre in Kainaliu. Production dates are May 3 through May 19.
Elwood P. Dowd is Harvey’s best friend and the only character who readily admits to seeing him. Newcomer Gregg Mowins takes on this classic role, played by Jimmy Stewart in the 1950 film version. Kerry Matsumoto plays Elwood’s sister, Veta Louise Simmons, and Elizabeth Spencer is his niece, Myrtle Mae Simmons. Barbara Masters plays Elwood’s aunt, Mrs. Ethel Chauvenet. When the action shifts to a sanitarium called Chumley’s Rest, we meet Nurse Ruth Kelly, portrayed by Amanda Trusty, Dr. Lyman Sanderson by Matt Bester, Duane Wilson by Rob Payesko, and Dr. Chumley by John Holliday. Other characters are Dr. Chumley’s wife, Betty, the family lawyer Judge Omar Gaffney, and a cab driver named E.J. Lofgren. They are played by Robin O’Hara, John Sucke and Yasir Bey, respectively.
“Harvey,” won the Pultizer Prize for Drama in 1945. Aloha Theatre production dates are May 3 through May 19, with Friday and Saturday performances at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday matinees at 2:30 p.m. The show is directed by Jerry Tracy, assisted by Annabelle Treacy. Designers include Linda Rowand, costumes; Jeff Rowand, lights and sound; William McGregor, set; and Kira Kane, properties. Set decorators are Martha Stephens and Gerald Lucena. Set crew includes Samantha Rey and Tyler Savarese.
Tickets range from $10 to $22 and are available online at AlohaTheatre.com, by phone Tuesday through Friday from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m., and at the box office beginning one hour prior to performance time.

New at Kona Bridge Club: Beginner Game
The Kona Bridge Club is welcoming new players to the club with a special game which offers a supportive environment for beginning duplicate bridge players.
Bridge Plus will be launched 1 p.m. Saturday at the Bridge Building and will continue weekly for a limited time period. This is a learn-and-play game in which the players may get help in bidding and playing from the teacher overseeing the game. Bridge Plus is open to players with 0-5 master points and some bridge experience. The normal table fee of $7 per player applies.

‘On Sacred Ground’: An intimate collection of hula images
A special evening presentation with Dino Morrow will be held 6:30 p.m. Thursday at the Volcano Art Center.
The evening program will share the extensive collection of intimate images captured during various hula performances during Volcano Art Center’s Hula Arts At Kilauea program, which features free monthly hula kahiko performances and other hula related arts on a year-round basis in Hawaii Volcanoes National Park.
This event is free, although a $5 donation to Volcano Art Center is greatly appreciated.
