KAILUA-KONA — Hundreds of keiki turned up for The HUB Egg Rush at Old Airport Soccer Field on Saturday morning, getting a head start on the Easter holiday.
In age-group heats, kids ages 12-and-under stormed the field to gather 12,000 eggs at a time. No heat lasted longer than two minutes, with the happy hunters returning to their parents with a bountiful suppy of eggs that were filled with candy and tickets for prizes. In all, there were more than 50,000 eggs to be claimed.
The event, which is put on by The HUB Church, was free for all and a way for the church, formerly known as Solid Rock Ministries, to give back to the community.
