Christman Ramos

Christman Alvin Ramos, 74, of Hilo, died April 11, 2019, at Hilo Medical Center. Born Dec. 25, 1944, in Olaa, he was a graduate of Hilo High School and retired from the State of Hawaii Department of Accounting and General Services as a Mason Foreman. He also served in the U.S. Army National Guard and was a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Hilo.

Friends may call on April 23 at the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Hilo, visitation 8-10 a.m.; memorial Mass at 10:30 a.m. Casual attire. An urn committal to follow at East Hawaii Veterans Cemetery No. 2 at 11:30 a.m.

Survived by wife, Kay Francis Urubio Ramos of Hilo; sons, Dane (Stacey) Ramos of Mountain House, California, Kyle (Katrina) Ramos of Hilo and Chris Ramos of San Francisco, California; brother, Leslie Ramos of Honolulu; sisters, Emma Atalig of Hawaiian Beaches and Patricia (Anthony) Muna of Keaau, Hawaii; seven grandchildren, numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.

Glenn Morimoto

Glenn Masaji Morimoto, 74, of Captain Cook, died April 8, 2019, at his residence. Born in Hilo, May 23, 1944, he was a retired painter for the Department of Accounting and General Services (DAGS).

Survived by wife, Karen Morimoto of Captain Cook; son, Vance Morimoto of Honolulu; daughter, Vanessa (Jeff) Mattos of Washington; brothers, Jerry (Sheila) Morimoto of Honolulu, Wayne (JoAnn) Morimoto of Kealakekua and Gene (Jann) Morimoto of Captain Cook; five grandchildren; stepsons, Chad (Jeana) Ushiroda of Maui, Kurt (Lahela) Ushiroda of Kailua-Kona and Sean (Thea) Ushiroda of Las Vegas; five step-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Margaret Ruiz

Margaret Rodrigues Ruiz, 85, of Pahoa, died April 6, 2019, at home. Born April 22, 1933, in Waimea, Kauai, she was a homemaker.

Friends may call on April 24 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Hilo for visitation 8-10 a.m.; celebration of Mass at 10 a.m. Casual attire. Burial at Homelani Memorial Park (Section 7).

Survived by husband, Ernest Ruiz, Sr. of Pahoa; sons, Ernest Ruiz, Jr. of Pahoa and Ricky G. (Sandra) Ruiz of Honolulu; daughters, Marlinda J. Ruiz of Pahoa and Michele N. Ruiz of Hayward, California; a daughter-in law; 13 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.

Stanley Kunitomo

Stanley Mitsuo Kunitomo, 81, of Honaunau, died April 9, 2019, at his residence. Born in Keei Aug. 10, 1937, he was a retired fire captain with Captain Cook Station No.6. He was a member of the Keei Kumiai, Keei Mura, Hawaii Firefighters Association, former president of the Kona Hongwanji Kyodan and a U.S. Army veteran.

Services held. No flowers.

Survived by sons, Bryan Kunitomo of Kealakekua, Cy (Noreen) Kunitomo and Kel (Pattie) Kunitomo of Kailua-Kona; brothers, Albert (Ruth) Kunitomo of Hawaii Kai, and Richard (Jane) Kunitomo of Keauhou Mauka; sister, Elaine Chapman of Keauhou Mauka; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Jane Henriques

Jane Henriques, 89, of Ocean View, died April 7, 2019, at Kona Community Hospital. Born in Kealakekua on July 15, 1929, she was a house cleaner and a member of St. John’s Catholic Church.

Visitation will be held at 8 a.m. April 26 at St. John’s Catholic Church in Kealakeakua. Mass at 9 a.m., with burial to follow at Kona Memorial Park in Holualoa. The family requests casual attire and flowers are welcome.

Survived by son, Steven Henriques, Sr. of Holualoa; grandsons, Steven Henriques, Jr. of Ocean View, Stemo Henriques of Hoomau Ranch, Steward Henriques of Ocean and Shane Henriques of Holualoa; granddaughter, Alicia Henriques of Holualoa; nine great grandchildren.

Ana Acob

Ana “Bascion” Acob, 66, of Keaau, died March 29, 2019, at Hawaii Care Choices (formerly Hospice of Hilo). Born March 16, 1953, in Bacarra, Philippines, she was a macadamia nut harvester and a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Hilo.

Wallace Muronaka

Wallace “Wally” Yukio Muronaka, 77, of Hilo, died March 25, 2019, at Life Care Center of Hilo. Born Aug. 15, 1941, in Pepeekeo, he was the former owner of Wally’s Repair Shop in Honokaa, a commercial fisherman and a U.S. Army veteran.

Private services were held. Family requests no monetary gifts or flowers.

Survived by brothers, Ronald (Beryl) Muronaka of Hilo, Roy (Liane) Muronaka of Papaikou; sisters, Jane (Morris) Ishisaka and Ellen (Carlton) Chung of Pearl City, Oahu; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Ethel Riveira

Ethel Marie Riveira, 89, of Kailua-Kona, died March 21, 2019, at Life Care Center of Kona. Born in Honolulu on August 10, 1929, she was a homemaker.

Visitation 9 a.m., May 4, at Yano Hall, 82-6145 Mamalahoa Highway, Captain Cook. Celebration of life will begin at 11 a.m. Casual attire.

Hoku Lani Maeha, 43, of Hilo, died April 8, 2019, in Hilo. Born in Honolulu in October of 1975, he was a school bus driver for Roberts Hawaii for more than 25 years.

Ernesto Enriquez

Ernesto Chiuco Enriquez, 80, of Waikoloa, died April 11, 2019, at his residence. Born in Bataan, Philippines, Oct. 31, 1938, he was a maintenance worker at the Waikoloa Marriott Hotel.

Visitation 3 p.m. April 22 at Dodo Mortuary Chapel, 199 Wainaku St. in Hilo. Funeral service will begin at 6 p.m. Casual attire.

Kawika Paiha’a Anderson, 39, of Hawaiian Beaches, died Feb. 17, 2019, at Queen’s Medical Center in Honolulu. Born in Hilo, he was employed by Da Store Hawaiian Beaches-Eileen Enterprises.

Stanley Souza, 79, of Springfield, Ore., died Feb. 26 in Oregon. Born in Papaikou, he was the owner of several Texaco Service Stations in Southern California, manager at Princeton Packaging, Home Depot in Los Angeles, production manager at Ez-Flo International and a veteran of the U.S. Navy.

Ronald Hideichi Kuratsu, 81, of Hilo, died Feb. 8, 2019, in Sacramento, Calif. Born Nov. 30, 1937, in Hilo, he was a retired radar engineer for Kentron and Aeromet Ltd. and a U.S. Army veteran.
