First Hawaiian Bank Foundation donates $35,000 to Hawaii Island United Way

A consistent annual supporter of Hawaii Island United Way (HIUW), First Hawaiian Bank Foundation contributed $35,000 to the 2018-2019 HIUW campaign.

Traditionally, workplace giving is at the foundation of United Way. One hour of pay per month is a formula used by many in the workforce through their workplace campaign. Corporate giving also plays a role in reaching the annual goal set by HIUW. Funds donated during the 2018-2019 campaign are utilized to provide support in the form of grants to 32 partner agencies providing more than 41 direct human services programs on Hawaii Island.

The focus of the annual campaign is during the months of September and October each calendar year, but donations can be accepted throughout the year via the HIUW website in one-time or recurring payments or via check payment. Workplace information sessions can be scheduled in an effort to raise awareness of how everyone’s dollar helps.

Along with partner agencies, United Way schedules these presentations to help businesses learn more about the work of HIUW, the partner agencies, and the goals that their donations help to achieve in human services with focuses on education, health, and financial stability for the people of Hawaii Island. Partnerships with businesses such as FHB Foundation allows HIUW to pursue its mission to unite people, organizations, and resources to build a healthier Hawaii Island community.
