Mokulele adds Kahului-Lanai route

Mokulele Airlines announced its first new route in Hawaii since Southern Airways acquired it earlier this year. Twice daily service between Kahului and Lanai City will begin on June 17, bringing the number of Hawaiian cities served by Mokulele to nine, which is more than any other air carrier.

Mokulele Airlines was founded in 1994 by Hawaii native Kawehi Inaba, who has recently returned to the airline as director of community relations.

After experiencing significant growth over the last decade, Mokulele was acquired by Southern Airways in February. Once the operations are integrated, the combined entity will be the largest commuter airline operating in the 50 states. With the addition of the Lanai City flights, Mokulele will operate 106-peak day departures in Hawaii.

Departures from Kahului for Lanai City will be at 7:05 a.m. and 4:15 p.m. HST daily, while departures from Lanai City to Kahului will be at 7:50 a.m. and 5 p.m HST. Fares begin at $57.
