KOHANAIKI — Four people were picked up by a passing charter boat Friday afternoon after their vessel capsized in waters off Kohanaiki.

A call came in to the Hawaii Fire Department at 1:14 p.m. of a 14-foot boat capsized with two passengers in the water and two on top of the overturned boat about a quarter mile off the popular North Kona surfing spot.

Chopper 2 was dispatched, but when it arrived, the vessel, Honey, along with three other boats and a personal water craft were already on the scene assisting the four passengers.

The capsized vessel was towed to Honokohau Small Boat Harbor by the Honey. No injuries were reported.
