Sounds of Pink Floyd coming to Privateer’s Cove
Big Island performance group All That is Now brings the progressive psychedelic sounds of Pink Floyd’s ‘Dark Side of the Moon’ album to Kona with an appearance at Privateer’s Cove at 7 p.m. May 25.
When Pink Floyd’s Dark Side of the Moon album was released in 1973, it was an enormous success: with the album selling 45 million copies worldwide and remaining on the Billboard charts for almost two decades, it became internationally recognized as a musical masterpiece. The love of the album remains to this day, a passion for which inspired the creation of All That is Now, a collaboration of 11 Big Island Musicians in an effort to replicate an extraordinary album made eternally famous by Pink Floyd. The group has had two successful shows at Kahilu Theatre and Palace Theater and look forward to bringing the show to the Kona community.
All That is Now is comprised of Dan Brauer on guitar and vocals, Lee Glennan on vocals, Robby Malovic on bass, Chris Wilson on drums, Jocelyn Michelle on Hammond organ, Scott Van Spronsen on keyboard, Lauren Broido on slide guitar, Ian Work on saxophone, and Stephanie Lou Tatum, Cayenne Clarke and Alicia Maher on vocals.
Tickets to the Privateer’s Cove are $25 in advance and $30 at the door, and can be found at www.ldtband.com. The entirety of the album will be performed.
CCE and FSH Up-Country Faire coming in September
Christ Church Episcopal in Kealakekua and Family Support Hawaii (FSH) have joined together to help the lower income families in our community. Family Support Hawaii’s Early Head Start Greenwell Family Development Center, located makai from Christ Church off Mamalahoa Highway, takes care of keiki ages birth to 3 years while their parents are at work or school.
This annual Labor Day event, the Up-Country Faire, which is held in the parking area of Christ Church, raises funds to help the church, built by Queen Emma, with its needs, primarily wall renovations on the historic 151-year old church.
In partnership, FSH staff help Christ Church on the day of the event, and Christ Church donates a third of the proceeds to help support FSH programs. This provided almost $3,000 to FSH in 2018 to help build an indoor/outdoor climbing structure for the keiki to play on.
