Joey Asagra

Joey Kapono Asagra, 26, of Mountain View, died May 31, 2019. Born June 9, 1992, he was a cook and server.

Service will be 10:45 a.m. June 18 at Ballard Family Mortuary, 570 Kinoole St., in Hilo. Lunch to follow. Green attire requested by family.

He is survived by partner, Chanice Levita of Honokaa; son, Broghan Levita-Asagra of Honokaa; parents, Cassandra and Jove Asagra of Nevada; brother, Jove (Daisy Akina) Asagra Jr. of Nevada; sister, Tasia (Robert Gutierrez) Asagra of Kailua-Kona; grandparents, Donna (Tom) Crosley of Mountain View and Stanley (Kathleen) Reyes of Honolulu; numerous aunties, uncles and cousins.

Erwin Chase Jr.

Erwin Francis Chase Jr., 86, of Keaau, died May 15, 2019, at the Hilo Medical Center. Born in Rockland, Maine, he was a retired state crash rescue firefighter and a retired U.S. Coast Guard veteran.

Graveside urn committal services will be noon June 19 at the Hawaii Veterans Cemetery No. 2. Casual attire.

He is survived by daughters, Pamela (Jerry K.) Bell of Hilo, Tamara (Raymond) Samuels of Lumberton, N.C. and Katherina Pualani (Ronald Dean Jr.) Mendenhall of New Mexico, Kehaulani Mary Kalei of North Carolina and Barbarajean Leinaala (Robert) Nesbitt of Hawaiian Acres; sons, Erwin (Kathleen) Chase, III, William J. Chase of Hilo and Samuel (Joseph) Kalei of Oahu; sister, Helen Kirchoff of Michigan; brother, David (Kathy) Chase of Maine; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandson; several nieces, nephews and numerous relatives.

Tranquilino Llantero

Tranquilino A. Llantero, 86, of Hilo, died June 3, 2019, at Sutter Tracy Community Hospital in Tracy, Calif. Born in Sarrat, Ilocos Norte, Philippines, he was a self-employed farmer and member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church.

Visitation 6-9 p.m. June 20 at Dodo Mortuary chapel; wake service at 7 p.m. Visitation also 8:30-9:30 a.m. June 21 at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Mass will be held at 10 a.m. followed by burial at the Homelani Memorial Park. Casual attire.

He is survived by sons, Emerson (Kareen) Llantero, Ferdinand (Rosemary) Llantero, Bernard (Tiziana) Llantero, Richard (Leslie) Llantero and Harvey (MayLee) Llantero; daughters, Mildred Llantero and Irene (Raymond) Fontecha; brother, James Llantero; sisters, Visitacion (Clemente) Manibog, Emeranciana (Andres) Tamayo and Pilar Ucol; 10 grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.

Stoney Aka

Stoney Dean Aiona Aka, 56, of Pahoa died May 23, 2019, at the Hilo Medical Center. Born in Hilo, he was an iron worker.

A celebration of life will take place at 5:30 p.m. June 22 at Cody’s Hale in Pahoa.

She is survived by daughters, Ashton Aiona Aka of Pahoa, Breeanna (Bronson) Aiona Aka Charkowski of Pahoa, Daysha Aiona Aka of Hilo; son, Cody (Tia Angel) Aiona Aka of Pahoa; mother, Gloria Grider of Pahoa; companion, Jennifer Haslett of Las Vegas; six grandchildren, numerous brothers, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Walter Ita

Walter Kenichi Ita, 85, of Ookala died May 8, 2019, at Hilo Medical Center. Born in Hakalau, he was a retired diesel mechanic for the former Davies Hamakua Sugar Co.

Friends may call 9-10 a.m. June 22 at Dodo Mortuary chapel; celebration of life at 10. Casual attire.

He is survived by sons, Russell Ita of Waimea, Aaron (Kaleen) Ita of Honolulu, Ellison (Lorna) Ita of Hilo; two sisters-in-law; two brothers-in-law; eight grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews.

Patrick Oguma

Patrick Hiroshi “Paka” Oguma, Sr., 67 of Keaau, died Feb. 7, 2019, at Hilo Medical Center. He was a shipfitter for Pearl Harbor Naval Shipyard and a solo musician.

A celebration of life will be June 20 at Oahu Mortuary, 2162 Nuuanu Ave., in Honolulu. Visitation begins at 5:30 p.m.

He is survived by spouse, Linda Oguma of Honolulu; sons, Patrick Oguma, Jr. and Joshua (Sharon) Oguma of Honolulu; daughter, Michelle (Ronald Phipps) Oguma of Honolulu; brothers, Joseph (Margaret) Oguma of Honolulu and Blaine (Teresa) Oguma of Keaau; five grandchildren; numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.
