Jenny Diaz

Jenny Diaz, 66, of Pahoa, died June 15, 2019, in Pahoa. Born April 28, 1953, in Baton Rouge, La., she was a retired Coyote Valley Elementary School teacher in Hidden Valley Lake, Calif. and member of the California Teachers Association.

Private services.

She is survived by daughter, Sierra Haworth of San Francisco; father, Johnnie Diaz of Alhambra, Calif.; mother, Lily Diaz of Monrovia, Calif.; sister, Lily Bruce of Sierra Madre, Calif.

Jessie Stacy

Jessie Lee Stacy died June 2, 2019, at The Queen’s Medical Center on Oahu. Born Sept. 26, 1980, in California, he worked as a carpenter.

A celebration of life will be held at Ballard Family Mortuary Hilo at 9 a.m. July 6, with light refreshments to follow. Another celebration of life will be held at a later date.

He is survived by wife, Sharian; sons, Braxton Montero of Anchorage, Alaska and Patrick Montero of Hilo; daughter, Aiko Stacy of Waikoloa; parents, Leonard and Vickie Stacy of Amboy, Wash.; brother, Gordon (Alisha) Stacy of Oregon; one grandchild; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Don Lorenzo

Don Kaimana Lorenzo, 52, of Honokaa, died June 16, 2019, at the Hilo Medical Center. Born Oct. 15, 1966, he was a chef and self-employed landscaper.

Services will be held 10 a.m. to noon on June 29 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 45-3259 Mamalahoa Highway, Honokaa. Viewing will be 8:30-10 a.m. Celebration of life will be held Oct. 19.

He is survived by partner Christine Leblond of Waimea; hanai sons, Isaiah (Kaila) Batalona-Paiva, Kaily Lorenzo, Austin Bannister, Cody Fernandez, Cecil Rodrigues, Jeremiah Kaholoa’a, etc. of Honokaa; hanai daughters, Anna Batalona, Jammie (Anu) Demello, Jarrie McGivern, Jessika (Will) Nansen, Kiara Rodrigues, Iyana Batalona-Paiva of Honokaa; brothers Jerry (Momi) Lorenzo, Daryl Lorenzo of Honokaa; sisters, Donna Asia, Lisa (Al) Lorenzo of Honokaa, Tina Lorenzo of New York.

Maika Kuamoo

Maika Kananialiiokama kanialohamekaua Kuamoo, 21, of Hilo, died May 30, 2019, in Hilo. Born Jan. 23, 1998, in Honolulu, he was a member of New Hope Hilo.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.

He is survived by parents, Dana and LeeRon Kuamoo, Sr. of Honolulu; sisters, Mailani Mahiai-Kuamoo, Makanalei Kuamoo and Maluhia Kuamoo of Hilo; brothers, LeeRon Kuamoo, Jr., Maoli Kuamoo and Manu Kaumoo of Hilo; numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

Wanda Mattos

Wanda Lynn Mattos, 59, of Honomu, died June 12, 2019, at Hilo Medical Center. Born Oct. 22, 1959, in Hilo, she was a caregiver for the state Hawaii government.

Friends call on from 5-6 p.m. July 5 at Dodo Mortuary Chapel for a 6 p.m. celebration of life. Casual attire, flowers and lei are welcomed.

She is survived by sisters, Sandra (Ronald) Konanui and Monica (Victor) DeCosta of Honomu, Sharon (Robert) Arial of Hilo; brothers, Leroy (Shelly) Mattos of Hilo and Wayne (Tina) Mattos of Honokaa; one brother-in-law; one aunt; numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

Jude Mattos

Jude Elias Mattos, 55, of Honomu, died June 10, 2019, at Hilo Medical Center. Born on Sept. 11, 1963, in Hilo, he was a police commissioner and a liquor commissioner for the Big Island spearheaded a neighborhood watch and security services in Honomu.

Friends may call 5-6 p.m. July 5 at Dodo Mortuary Chapel for a 6 p.m. celebration of life. Casual attire, flowers and lei are welcomed. Cremation to follow at Dodo Mortuary Crematory.

Joseph James Sapon, 68, died May 13, 2019, at Nakamaru Hale in Holualoa. Born March 28, 1951, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, he was a marketing and advertising writer.

Harold Goodman

Harold Dale Goodman, 87, Hilo, died June 20, 2019. Born Dec. 14, 1931, in Santa Barbara, California; he led a swing band in his youth, designed custom swimming pools, and he had a small payroll service in Hilo.

Preceded in death by his parents, Edna and Morgan Goodman.

Juliette Medeiros

Juliette “Julie” Ann Medeiros, 81, of Mountain View, died June 23, 2019, at Hilo Medical Center. Born Sept. 17, 1937, in Pepeekeo.

Preceded in death by her parents, George and Alice Meyers; husband, David Medeiros; sister, Georgianne (JoJo) Nakagawa; and brother, David Rosario.

Visitation 9-10 a.m. July 3 at Dodo Mortuary Chapel, Hilo; Service at 10 a.m.; burial to follow at Hawaii Veterans Cemetery No.2. Family requests casual attire.
