Earl Ah Lo Sr.

Earl “Pake” Amana Ah Lo Sr., 84, of Aiea, Oahu, died May 23, 2019, at Pali Momi Medical Center in Aiea, Oahu. Born June 14, 1934, in Hilo, he was retired from the Navy Public Works Center Transportation Department.

Friends may call at 9:30 a.m. July 7 at Mililani Memorial Park &Mortuary, Mauka Chapel, Waipio, Oahu, for a 10:30 a.m. service. Friends may again call at 8:30 July 11 at Dodo Mortuary chapel in Hilo for a 9:30 a.m. service. Burial follows at noon at Hawaii Veterans Cemetery No.2.

He is survived by sons, Earl (Lani Girl) Ah Lo Jr., Lyle (Keith) Ah Lo; daughters, Roxanne (Larry Batten) Ah Lo-Batten, Marlene Kamakawiwo’ole, Fransonna (Monte) Keb-Ah Lo; brothers, Kenneth (Marlene) Ah Lo, Melvin (Joyce) Ah Lo; sister, Ethel Ah Lo; four grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, four great-great-grandchildren, numerous cousins, nephews and nieces.

Ululani Sherlock

Ululani “Aunty Ulu” Keliikoa Sherlock, 78, of Keaukaha, died June 9, 2019, at home. Born Oct. 9, 1940, in Honolulu, she was a retired cultural coordinator for the University of Hawaii at Hilo Office of Maunakea Management and member of Nanaikapono Hawaiian Civic Club, Prince David Kawananakoa Hawaiian Civic Club, Hawaiian Civic Club of Laupahoehoe, and Hale O Na Ali’i O Hawai’i, among others.

Friends may call at 9 a.m. July 9 at Dodo Mortuary chapel in Hilo for an 11 a.m. service. Burial follows at Homelani Memorial Park Ilima Section. Family requests aloha attire be worn.

She is survived by son, Richard J.K. (Shawna) Sherlock of Syracuse, Utah; sister, Nanialoha Keliikoa Langridge of Keaukaha; stepbrother, Frank Kaaa of Tampa Bay, Fla.; stepsister, Leinaala Kaaa Penovich of Chicago; four grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Michelle Gouveia

Michelle Kahealani Gouveia, of Waimea, died on June 18, 2019, in Waimea. Born Aug. 17, 1968, in Honolulu, she was an antiques collector and dealer in Waimea.

Private services will be held.

She is survived by son, Micheal Gouveia of Waimea; daughter, Brieanah Gouveia of Honolulu; parents, Linda and Carlos Gouveia of Waimea; sister, Renee (Richard) Rosario of Waimea; and one grandchild.

Patricia Olivares

Patricia Faith Olivares of Las Vegas, and formerly of Kailua-Kona, died June 17, 2019, in Las Vegas. Born June 2, 1939, in Illinois, she worked as a technical sales representative for the airlines.

A funeral Mass will be held at 9 a.m. July 25 St. Michael the Archangel Church in Kailua-Kona with inurnment to follow at noon at West Hawaii Veterans Cemetery.

She is survived by spouse, Jose; sons, John (Dana) Nordblom of Mountain View; Hal (Dawn) Nordblom of Maui; Joe A. (Kimberly) Olivares of Los Olivos, Calif.; daughters, Kristen (Michael) Scanlin of Las Vegas; Diane Olivares of Bay City, Mich.; brother, Michael (Ellen) Connors of Indianapolis; and four grandchildren.

James Britton

James “Kimo” Michael Britton, 68, of Waikoloa, died July 1, 2019, at his residence. Born July 13, 1950, in Youngstown, Ohio, he was the owner of Jim’s Handyman Services and a former engineer for local hotels including the Fairmont Orchid and Hyatt Resorts.

Private service held.

He is survived by son, Michael (Aileen) Britton; daughter, Michele (Dustin) Howard all of Arizona; brother, Jake (Sylvia) Britton of California; three grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, four nephews.

Alma Izumi

Alma Yaemi Izumi, 65, of Kailua-Kona, died June 4, 2019, at Life Care Center of Kona. Born July 27, 1953, in Kealakekua, she was a maintenance worker for Walmart.

She is survived by husband, Alvin Izumi; sons, Alvin Cory Izumi, Bradley Izumi all of Kailua-Kona; numerous family and friends.
