Pacific Media buys Honolulu stations
KAHULUI — Locally owned multi-media company Pacific Media Group has reached an agreement to acquire Ohana Broadcasting Company’s four Honolulu radio stations, it announced in a press release last week. The acquisition includes stations: KDDB “da bomb” (102.7 FM), KUMU (94.7 FM), KQMQ “Da Paina” (93.1 FM) and KPOI (105.9 FM).
This brings the total number of radio stations that will be owned and operated by Pacific Media Group across the state to 20. The company already had six stations each on Maui and the Big Island of Hawaii and four on Kauai.
The Oahu agreement comes on the heels of Pacific Media Group’s expansion to Kauai, where the company purchased four stations that make up the KONG Radio Group from Ohana Broadcasting in October 2018.
The acquisition is set to close Sept. 1.
Hospice of Kona recipient of fuel-raiser
KAILUA-KONA — Hospice of Kona said in a press release its pleased to partner with Ohana Fuels on its “Fuel up. Do good.” program during the third quarter of 2019. As a beneficiary of this important program, Hospice of Kona will receive a portion of the proceeds from every gallon of gasoline purchased at all 11 Ohana Fuels stations on Hawaii Island from July through September 2019.
Hospice of Kona provides family-centered support, education, and care for those approaching the end of life. The organization is recognized as the best resource to support and advocate for the terminally ill and their caregivers, and to educate professionals, volunteers and the general public about hospice care and palliative care.

HR expert to talk Thursday
The West Hawaii Development Center will offer a workshop, “Employment Law Basics for Small Business Employers from 9-11:30 a.m. at Hale Iako in Suite 119, 73-970 Makako Bay Dr. in Kailua-Kona on the NELHA campus.
The seminar is designed to take the scary out of compliance for small business employers and new supervisors. It’s geared to provide an overview of labor laws employers should know about.
Facilitator Donna Jones is a senior HR trainer and consultant with ProService Hawaii who has more than 20 years of experience as an HR manager, trainer, and payroll expert.
