Lewis Glaser
Mr. Lewis Ira Glaser, 78, of Kailua-Kona, died July 11, 2019, at Kona Community Hospital. Born April 30, 1941, Newark, N.J., he was a macadamia nut farmer and U.S. Army veteran.
Graveside service will be held at noon July 17 at the West Hawaii Veterans Cemetery in Kailua-Kona.
He is survived by his companion, Carolyn Greenfeld of Kailua-Kona; sister, Evelyn (Harry) Glaser; a niece, two nephews; several grandnieces and grandnephews.

Stephanie Moniz
Stephanie “Stephie” Linda Moniz, 65, of Olaa, died June 15, 2019, at home. Born Oct. 15, 1953 in Hakalau, she was a retired educational assistant for Pahoa High and Intermediate School and a former chef at Roy’s. She was also an alakai for Te Ha’a Lehua and a former member of Halau o Kekuhi.
Visitation will be 2-3 p.m. July 20 at Dodo Mortuary Chapel in Hilo. A celebration of life begins at 3 p.m. Casual attire.
She is survived by children, Carrie Pomai (Makana) Edens, Nichole Anela McGerity, Paul Ikaika Moniz and Brandy Cummings; partner, John Oliver; 13 brothers; eight sisters; nine grandsons; nine granddaughters; two great-grandsons; one great-granddaughter; numerous nieces and nephews.

Aranobu Shibuya
Aranobu Shibuya, 94, of Captain Cook, died June 21, 2019, at his residence. Born March 22, 1925, in Keopuka Makai, he was a coffee and vegetable farmer, a former carpenter and a veteran of the US Army National Guard.

He is survived by son, Bertram (Michelle) Shibuya of North Kohala; daughter, Leanda (Ronald Sakata) Varron of Kealakekua; brothers, Takasato Shibuya, Kiyoshi (Jean) Shibuya, Kenji Shibuya all of California; one son-in-law; three grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews.

Bobsy Gumayagay
Bobsy Caraang Gumayagay, 53, of Keaau, died June 28, 2019, at Hilo Medical Center. Born Oct. 31, 1965, in San Nicolas, Ilocos Norte, Philippines, he was a heavy equipment operator for Agribusiness Management and Landscaping Company. He also worked at J Hara Store as a Stock Clerk in Kurtistown and he served as a member of the Hawaii Army National Guard.
Friends may call 5:30-6:30 p.m. July 24 at Dodo Mortuary Chapel for a 6:30 p.m. wake service. Friends may call again 8-10 a.m. July 25 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Hilo for a 10 a.m. celebration of Mass. Casual attire and flowers and lei are welcomed. Burial to at Homelani Memorial Park, Ilima Section.
He was preceded in death his father, Tiburcio Gumayagay of Pahoa.
He is survived by wife, Marilyn Gumayagay of Keaau; daughters, Janice Gumayagay and Jasmine Gumayagay of Keaau; mother, Rosita Gumayagay of Pahoa; brothers, Roy Gumayagay of Alaska, Jay Gumayagay of Pahoa; sisters, Nora Magcalas of Salem, Oregon, Lina Gumayagay of Honolulu, and Myla (Ceasar) Gumayagay of Hilo; numerous uncles, aunts, cousins, nieces and nephews.

Peggy Kobayashi
Peggy Jean Nako’olani Kobayashi, 70, of Hilo, died July 1, 2019, at the Hawaii Care Choices Pohai Malama Care Center. She was born in Honolulu and was a retired social worker with the State of Hawaii, Department of Human Services and a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church.
Visitation will be from 5-6 p.m. July 19 at the Dodo Mortuary chapel. A memorial service will be held at 6 p.m. Casual attire; no flowers.
She is survived by companion, Dennis Hoota of Hilo; daughters, Michelle S.K. “Michi” Kobayashi and Liane “Annie” (Don) Yokoyama of Hilo; two grandchildren.

Phil Slott
Phil Slott, 76, of Waimea, died July 10, 2019 in Waimea. Born and raised in New York City, he was a creative director and advertising executive known for iconic slogans including Gillette’s “Never let ‘em see you sweat,” and the U.S. Navy’s “It’s not just a job, it’s an adventure.” He served in the Army Reserves and was a published author.
A celebration of life will be 4 p.m. July 27 at Kawaihae Canoe Club. In lieu of flowers, donations to Hawaii Community Foundation Attn: Phil Slott Fund, for Survivors of Traumatic Brain Injuries, are welcome.
He is survived by brother, Dan Slott; one niece; one nephew); one great-niece; and one great-nephew.
Rose Oshiro
Rose Asae Oshiro, 93, of Hilo, died June 4, 2019, at the Hawaii Care Choices Pohai Malama Care Center. She was born in Honolulu, and was a retired office manager for WESCO in Hilo and a member of the Honpa Hongwanji Hilo Betsuin.
Private family services held. No koden.
She is survived by husband, Fumio Oshiro of Hilo; son, Donn (Karen) Oshiro of Lake Forest Park, Wash.; two grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Richard Troyer Jr.
Richard L. Troyer Jr., 68, of Mountain View, died June 6, 2019, at home. Born in Salina, Kan., he spent his entire adult life enjoying living in Hawaii and was a dedicated carpenter. His ashes lay at sea and on Maunakea where he spent most of his spare time.
A celebration of life will be held on Aug. 11 at GSR by invitation only; contact a friend or family member.
He is survived by children, Richard L. Troyer III of Mountain View, Lisa Downing of Lacey, Wash., Cindy Troyer-Smith of Compton, Quebec-Canada and four grandchildren.
