Eleanor Mendonca

Eleanor Teresa Mendonca, 92, of Hilo, died July 11, 2019, at Hale Anuenue Restorative Care Center in Hilo. Born June 6, 1927, in Hilo, she worked for Del Monte Pineapple &Produce Company and she also was a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Hilo.

Friends may call 8-10 a.m. July 23 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Hilo for a 10 a.m. memorial Mass. Casual attire. Urn burial to follow at Homelani Memorial Park.

She is survived by sisters, Margaret A. Mendonca of Hilo, Marie A. Mendonca and Bernice B. Mendonca of Hilo; brother, David (Jane) Mendonca of Hilo; four nephews; two nieces; numerous other cousins, grandnephews and grandnieces.

Calvin Delaries, Sr.

Calvin Dennis Delaries, Sr., 65, of Kealakekua, died June 9, 2019, at the Kona Community Hospital. Born Feb. 17, 1954, in North Kona, he was a retired maintenance man at the former Kona Hilton Hotel and a retired coffee farmer.

Visitation will be held at 9 a.m. July 27 at Kona Faith Center in Captain Cook. A celebration of life will begin at 10 a.m. The family requests casual attire and flowers are welcome.

He is survived by his son, Calvin Delaries Jr. of Kailua-Kona; daughter, Natalie (Brandon) Daog of Kailua-Kona; mother, Gertrude Delaries of Honalo; brothers, Michael (Jolene) Delaries Jr. of Kailua-Kona, Randall (Mahi) Delaries, Jason Delaries, and Dayle (Keoni) Delaries, all of Honalo; sisters, Stephanie (Gery) Navarro of South Kona, Mildred Martin of Hookena and Ingrid (Vicky) Delaries of Holualoa; hanai daughter, Aurora Delaries of Kailua-Kona; one grandson; numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

May Tomita

May Masako Inouye Tomita, 91, of Kailua-Kona and Holualoa, died July 13 at her Kailua Kona residence. Born May 25, 1927 in Honolulu, she was a retired teacher’s aide for Honaunau Elementary School, a former dietician and volunteer for Shriners Children’s Hospital.

Private service to be held at a later date.

She is survived by son, Paul Tomita of Holualoa; daughter, Hollis Tomita of Kailua Kona.

Kazue Matsumoto

Kazue Matsumoto, 96, of Hilo, died July 8, 2019, at Life Care Center of Hilo. Born Sept. 25, 1922, in Hilo, she was retired from the former Hilo Quality Cleaners.

Private services were held. Family requests no monetary gifts or flowers.

She is survived by brother, Sueo Matsumoto of Glenwood; numerous nieces and nephews.

Richard Doyas

Richard James Doyas, 85, of Pahoa, died July 9, 2019, at home. Born June 27, 1934, in San Francisco, he was a retired nuclear physicist for Lawrence Livermore National Security and a member of the Center for Spiritual Living in Keaau.

No services.

He is survived by wife, Jenifer Doyas of Pahoa; daughters, Noreen (Graham Matthews) Doyas of Redding, Calif. and Carolyn (Steve Roadhouse) Fencil of Lewiston, Calif.; son, Gregory (Jennifer) Doyas of Palo Alto, Calif.; sister, Dolores Ott of Chaska, Minnesota; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren.
