KAILUA-KONA — Earlier this week, three West Hawaii transfer stations, Keauhou, Keei and Puako, were closed as a result of staff shortages.

All three are expected to be open again by today.

But both the Kealakehe Transfer Station Greenwaste Site and the Waiea Transfer Station were added to that closed list on Thursday.

The Kealakehe Transfer Station Greenwaste Site will reopen as regularly scheduled from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. today.

The Waiea Transfer Station will reopen as regularly scheduled from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday.

Hawaii County’s Department of Environmental Management apologized for the inconvenience, in a press release.

For more information, visit the www.hawaiizerowaste.org website for future closure information and locations, or call our Department of Environmental Management, Solid Waste Division Office, at 961-8270.
