More transfer stations close again today

The Keei Transfer Station will closed at 8 a.m. today due to staffing shortages in the Kona Base Yard. The site will reopen as regularly scheduled from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday.

Until 4 p.m. this afternoon, residents can take their household generated waste to the Keauhou Transfer Station, which is open from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. every day.

Residents with household generated green waste can take their waste to the Kealakehe Transfer Station from 8a.m. to 4 p.m. for green waste disposal.

Also due to shortages, the Pahala and Puako transfer stations will be closed today and reopen Friday.

The department has suffered from staffing issues over the last several months that have led to frequent closures when employees call in sick.
