To raise funds and awareness for Special Olympics Hawaii, volunteer, off-duty law enforcement officers will take their duties to new heights for this year’s 18th annual Cop on Top.

During the Aug. 22-24 event, Hawaii Police Department officers will rise to the occasion accepting donations from atop scaffolding, eating, sleeping and raising awareness of the organization fronting the Kailua-Kona Walmart. They hope to raise $25,000.

All funds raised during the three-day event will remain in West Hawaii. Monies raised will be used to purchase uniforms, equipment, transportation, coaches training, regional competitions and leadership and conference opportunities for our West Hawaii athletes.

Hawaii Police officers will also be stationed at the Hilo Walmart Aug. 22-24 collecting donations for athletes in East Hawaii.
