Malcolm Greer
Malcolm Thomas Greer, 73, of Kailua-Kona, died July 17, 2019, at Kona Community Hospital. Born Oct. 23, 1945, in Ann Arbor, Mich., he was an accountant, high school teacher and member of the USTA Tennis Club and the Old A’s Tennis Club.
Visitation will be held at 8:30 a.m. Aug. 10 at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Kailua-Kona. Memorial service will begin at 10 a.m. The family requests casual attire.
He is survived by his wife, Editha Greer of Kailua-Kona; daughter, Michelle (Terrence) Payne of Tennessee; stepsons, Terence (Alicia) Manarpaac of Austin, Texas, James Manarpaac of Oahu, Jeremiah (Reyna) Manarpaac of Wailuku, Maui; stepdaughter, Christine (Malte) Heinemann of Kiel, Germany; brother, Kenneth (Joy) Greer of Roanake, Va.; two granddaughters, a nephew and niece and numerous cousins.

Sixto Viernes
Sixto Jamie Retuta Viernes, 76, of Keaau, died July 22, 2019, at Hilo Medical Center. Born Aug. 6, 1942, in Labut, Magsingal, Philippines, he was a retired nursery/field worker for Pacific Floral Exchange, and had many farming jobs on the side.
Friends may call 5:30-6:30 p.m. Aug. 8 at Dodo Mortuary Chapel for a 6:30 p.m. wake service. Friends may call again 8-10 a.m. Aug. 9 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Hilo for a 10 a.m. celebration of Mass. Casual attire; flowers and lei are welcomed; burial to follow at Homelani Memorial Park, Ilima Section.
He was preceded in death by son, Edwin Viernes.
He is survived by sons, Vincent Bong (Lorna) Viernes of Labut, Magsingal, Philippines and Jamie Retuta (Jennifer) Viernes, Jr. of Keaau; daughters, Evelyn (Lindbirgh) Nicolas and Jocelyn Viernes of Keaau; one daughter in-law; one sister in-law; 11 grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.

Makoto Harano
Makoto Harano, 92, of Kealakekua, died July 17, 2019, at his residence. Born Jan. 16, 1927, in Kealakekua, he was a self-employed coffee farmer, He was a member of the Kingsley Kumiai, Kona Hongwanji Buddhist Temple and a veteran of the U.S. Army, World War II.
Visitation will be held at 4 p.m. Aug. 5 at the Kona Hongwanji Buddhist Temple in Kealakekua. Memorial service will begin at 5 p.m. The family requests casual attire and no flowers.
He is survived by his daughters, Lynn (Roy) Nakamura and Lisa Harano of Honolulu; son, Lloyd (Robyn) Harano of Honolulu; brothers, Sadao (Geraldine) Harano of Chicago, IL. and Harold (Noriko) Harano of Sacramento, Calif.; sisters, Aiko Matsunaga of Chicago and Mae Harano of Kealakekua; one grandchild; numerous nieces and nephews.

Kaiulani Kinchoy
Kaiulani Pomaikai Kinchoy, 11, of Waimea, died July 21, 2019, at North Hawaii Community Hospital. Born Jan. 5, 2008, she was a student at Waimea Elementary School and member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Visitation will be 9 a.m., Aug. 10 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Waimea Chapel. Service begins at 10 a.m.
She is survived by parents, Daryl Kinchoy, Misty Bell; sister, Nevaeh Kinchoy; grandfather, Sam Bell all of Waimea, grandmother, Alice Barber of Hilo; numerous uncles, aunts, cousins and friends.

Eli Peck
Eli Wyndam Keown Peck, 31, of Keaau, died July 19, 2019, at home. He was born on May 9, 1988, in Stamford, Conn.
Services will be held 4 p.m. Aug. 2 at Davidson Brothers in Glens Falls, N.Y. and 11 a.m. Aug. 4 at Earthplace in Westport, Conn. All are welcome. In lieu of flowers donations may be sent to the Zen Mountain Monastery in Mount Tremper, N.Y.
Eli is survived by his parents, Susan Keown and Bob Peck; sister, Sarah (Jason Gerhardt) Keown-Peck; aunt; cousin; uncle; and paternal grandfather.
