The Hawaii State Senior Softball Tournament got underway Tuesday at Old Kona Airport Park in Kailua-Kona.

Eight divisions from around the state are competing in the tournament.

The action continues today at 8 a.m. and reaches its climax on Thursday with a series of championship games.

Now in its 44th year, the Hawaii State Senior Softball Tournament draws teams from Kauai, Oahu, Maui and the Big Island. The host venue rotates among the islands, Oahu, Maui, Hawaii, and Kauai, each year. Kailua-Kona is this year’s host.

The three-day tournament was last held in Kailua-Kona in 2015. That year, Kona Gold took the title.
