Richard Tripp, Jr.

Richard “Bud” “Dicky Boy” Kahapaalii Tripp, Jr., 59, of Waimea, died May 31, 2019, at North Hawaii Community Hospital. He was born on Dec. 9, 1959, in Kealakekua.

A celebration of life will be held from 1-7 p.m. Aug. 23 at Kahaluu Beach Park large pavilion. The family requests casual attire.

He is survived by his sister, Roberta Tripp-Carvalho and Jacy Medina-Young of Kamuela; brother Archieball Kaho’opi’i of Kawaihae; sons, Tyson Canda-Tripp and Travis Canda-Tripp of Keaau; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Donna Rupert

Donna Mae Rupert, 60, of Pahoa, died July 27, 2019. She was born on Nov. 11, 1958, in Pennsylvania.

She is survived by daughters, Tracy (Kaleo Mehau) Motta, Monique (Miquelle) Oliveira, and Shaina (Vaughn) Valentino; sons, Donovan (Casey McCandless) Oliveira, Dustin Oliveira, Desmond Oliveira, Dillon Oliveira and Dominic (Asacia Andrade) Oliveira; sisters, Sherry (Greg Souza) Rupert and Terry Ann (Mareko) Sopi; brother, Larry Rupert; 10 beautiful grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Thais Bowman

Thais Tallett Bowman, 78, of Hilo, died Aug. 5, 2019, at home. Born Nov. 10, 1940, in Hilo, she graduated from St. Francis School on Oahu and retired as a senior lifeguard for the County of Hawaii in Laupahoehoe.

Friends may call 8:30-10 a.m. Aug. 23 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Hilo. A celebration of Mass begins at 10 a.m. Casual attire, flowers and lei are welcomed an urn committal will follow at Homelani Memorial Park (Section 7).

She is survived by daughters, Carmen Bowman of Hilo and Claire (Rex) Napeahi of Pahoa; sons, Clifford (Noelani) Bowman and Clyde Bowman of Hilo; brothers, Paul N. (Evonne Bjornen) Tallett, Keffy (Veronica) Tallett and Adelbert (Mona) Tallett of Hilo, Willibrord (Pauline) Tallett of Kaneohe and Hilyard (Phyllis Dietrich) Tallett of Texas; sister, Lucille Fay (Paul) Meyers of Oahu; 12 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

Gail Miura

Gail L. Miura, 68, of Hilo, died July 19, 2019, at Hawaii Care Choices Pohai Malama Care Center. Born April 17, 1951, in Hilo, she was a retired educator for the state Department of Education and member of Kawailani Kumiai.

Friends may call at 3:30 p.m. Aug. 23 at Dodo Mortuary chapel in Hilo for a 5:30 p.m. service. Family requests casual attire be worn.

She is survived by husband, Eli Miura of Hilo; son, Shaye (Tracey) Miura of Hilo; daughter, Ashly (Clinton Alexander) Miura of Hilo; two grandchildren, Kegan Miura and Kyree Ann Miura; numerous in-laws, nieces and nephews.

Mitsue Nakagawa

Mitsue “Betty” Nakagawa, 92, of Honokaa, died July 13, 2019, at Pali Momi Medical Center in Aiea, Oahu. Born Jan. 13, 1927, in Waipunalei, she was a retired nurse from the former Honokaa Hospital and member of Hamakua Jodo Mission.

Friends may call at 9 a.m. Aug. 24 at Dodo Mortuary chapel in Hilo for a 10:30 a.m. service. Family requests casual attire be worn and no flowers.

She is survived by daughters, Edna (Clifford) Nishimura of Pearl City, Oahu, Iris Nakagawa of Honolulu; brothers, Isamu (May) Fukui of Laupahoehoe, Thomas (Leoni) Fukui of Hilo, Donald (Carol) Fukui of Aiea, Oahu, Richard (Elaine) Fukui of Hilo; sisters, Harumi Higashigawa of Gardena, Calif., Nancy (Robert) Delos Santos of Mililani, Oahu; two grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews.
