Senior classes moved to Hualalai
Due to construction at Hale Halawai, senior classes will be held at Regency Hualalai beginning Sept. 3-13. A first-time class fee of $10 will be waived for any senior that wishes to join on these dates.

Kupuna Day: Senior Health and Wellness Fair Sept. 15
Regency Hualalai and the Kona Japanese Civic Association invites the public to attend Kupuna Day, Senior Health and Wellness Fair at 11 a.m. Sept. 15.
The family fun event is open to the public and will feature kupuna wellness activities, cultural food sampling, live entertainment and more.
Entertainment will include Daifukuji Taiko drummers, Happy Strummers Orchestra, mini golf, beiju celebration, arts and crafts a variety of food options and more.
Food: Japanese food samplers, Hualalai pupus and drinks and shave ice machine.
Groups such as Hawaiian Rehabilitation Services, Blue Zones Hawaii, Hawaii Community Care Givers Network, Kiwanis Club Kona, PATH Hawaii and others will be on hand to share information.

Waimea Town Meeting focus on community’s future
There are no crystal balls, but the Hawaii County General Plan update, currently in progress and open to community input, and the energy future of our district and island will top the agenda for Waimea Community Association’s Town Meeting from 5:15-7 p.m. Thursday in Waimea School Cafeteria. These two topics are complex and far-reaching and urgently warrant community awareness and input, said WCA Director Nancy Carr Smith, who will facilitate the meeting.
There is no charge but membership is urged to support ongoing association activities.
The meeting will begin with Hawaii County planning director Michael Yee and the department’s manager of long range planning, April Suprenant, will provide a brief presentation on the recently released Draft General Plan, which is available for public review and comment. Also on the agenda will be the introduction of HELCO’s recently appointed president Sharon Suzuki, updates by Waimea County Council members Val Poindexter and Dr. Tim Richards and presentations will include Waimea Outdoor Circle.
