Kailua Village Artists featuring 6 artists in September

For the month of September the Kailua Village Artists Gallery is featuring the works of six guest artists from the Big Island.

Frank Andrews creates welded copper petroglyphs inspired from petroglyphs found at historic locations around the Hawaiian Islands.

Rachel Baker works with fused glass adding dichroic metal of island imagery to her creations. She shapes them into plates, jewelry, wine stoppers and flowers in bright colors.

Gigi Goochey is a jewelry artist combining her sterling silver jewelry with gems, beads, and shells to create her unique style of necklaces, bracelets and earrings.

Brad Lewis is an internationally published and recognized photographer with an impressive portfolio of volcano photography taken over the last 30 years.

Scott Pincus is a silversmith jewelry artist. His silver Island shells and imagery are crafted into necklaces and earrings, some combined with Island pearls.

Bill Twibell, known as the “Fish Print Guy,” specializes in the ancient art of Gyotaku. He paints large and small fish indigenous to Hawaii and then presses rice paper onto the fish to create limited prints.

The Kailua Village Artists Gallery is a co-operative gallery owned and operated by its member artists since 1987. The gallery is located in the Kona Marketplace, 75-5729 Alii Drive, Suite C-110 in Kailua-Kona. The gallery is open daily from 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

Blue Sea Artisans featured artist is Cathie Ann Amelotte

The Blue Sea Artisans featured artist for the month of September is vintage jewelry artist Cathie Ann Amelotte.

Amelotte’s work contains inexpensive but divine old beads depicting the character of the times they were created. Unique in their own right, they become beautiful when combined with newer components.

The childhood passion for vintage items has remained with her throughout her lifetime which next year marks 50 years living in Hawaii. Many of her pieces combine vintage and new shells, repurposed and previously harvested coral, and coconut. The treasures she finds on her journeys spark new life into pieces.

Besides Amelotte’s philosophy of reusing things from the earth, she is passionate about the community. Having lived most of her life on Hawaii Island with a background in nonprofits, she is a regular supporter of agencies trying to better our future through generous donations.

She is offering 25% off on all her regularly marked jewelry through the month of September. Contact her there with requests to donations for worthy causes.

The Blue Sea Artisans Gallery is located in the Keauhou Shopping Center, Courtyard,78-6831 Alii Drive. It’s open 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Thursday; 9 a.m. to 4:45 p.m. Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday; and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday.
