Community Emergency Response Team training available

Sponsored by Hawaii County Civil Defense, the CERT Training includes comprehensive, hands-on modules on emergency preparedness in hawaii, small fire suppression, disaster medical operations, light search &rescue, incident command organization, disaster psychology, emergency communications, and CERT &terrorism, with both classroom training &outdoor simulations.

The course will be on Saturdays: Oct. 26, and Nov. 2, 16, and 23 at the University of the Nations, 75-5851 Kuakini Highway, Building J, Room 101, Kailua-Kona. Classes are free but space is limited.

Daughters of the American Revolution donates books

In honor of Constitution Week, DAR member Debbie Wielt, representing the Hawaii Loa Chapter of Daughters of the American Revolution, donated books to the Kailua-Kona Public Library. Several patriotic books were donated for the Children’s Library.
