Elderly Recreation Services fall classes begin
Get ready for the fall 2019 classes offered by the County of Hawaii Elderly Recreation Services! Classes run in 10 week sessions Sept. 30-Dec. 7, excluding Veterans Day and Thanksgiving, and are open to anyone aged 55 and older, and include fun activities such as Tai Chi, Zumba, line dancing, Hawaiian culture, ukulele lessons, yoga, multimedia art and more. Registration fees are $10 per 10 week session and can be paid to the instructor on the first day of class.

Habitat Announces 2019 Fundraising Gala
Tickets are now on sale and sponsorship opportunities are available for the second Habitat for Humanity Hawaii Island annual Fundraising Gala. Held at 5 p.m. on Nov. 16, the event will be on the beautiful luau grounds at the Courtyard by Marriott King Kamehameha’s Kona Beach Hotel.
All proceeds from this event will help Habitat build more affordable homes and help with the Puna Recovery efforts. Last year, Habitat’s fundraising gala sold out and over $35,000 was raised to help with their programs and services. Attendees can bid on some fabulous silent auction items, take a memorable photo at our photo booth, and enjoy a delicious dinner buffet.

Landscape Management Conference Oct. 25
The Hawaii Island Landscape Association and the University of Hawaii Cooperative Extension will host the eighth Landscape Management Conference and Trade Show, Oct. 25 at the Westin Hapuna Beach Hotel. The event provides practical management tools for professional landscapers, nurserymen, arborists, tree trimmers and property managers, and is open to the public.
The program features local experts from the Hawaii green industry such as Max Yarawamai and David Tamura, plus seminars on agricultural finance, green industries, business planning, decision-making, products and services, and up-to-date info on invasive pests and diseases.
