First Friday block party in Holualoa tonight

From 5:30 to 8:30 p.m., tonight, Holualoa Village galleries will celebrate new art and artists, delicious street food and music along Mamalahoa Highway with the October edition of their monthly Art After Dark event.

The village street party features art and artists in over a dozen galleries and shops, as well as live music and a great selection of local food vendors. This community event is free, and for all ages.

Crowd favorite, LT Smooth will be performing at Holualoa Gallery, along with monthly regulars and guest artists at multiple locations.

Dr. Tim and Friends will jam out in front of Ipu Arts Plus Gallery, at the north end of Holualoa beginning at 6 p.m.

The Chamber Orchestra of Kona in concert Oct. 13-14

Come rock out as the Chamber Orchestra of Kona presents “Rocktober,” a 90-minute concert featuring rock music from the legends such as Led Zepplin, The Doors, Queen and more.

The show begins at 4:30 p.m. Oct. 13 and 6:30 p.m. Oct. 14 at Privater’s Cove, 75-170 Hualalai Road

Hawaiian Ninja obstacle course next week

Kids In Motion is hosting a Hawaiian Ninja Warrior Obstacle Course open to children ages 5 through 10 years old.

Children can try a class and experience the course of ring swinging, monkey bar stunts, balance beam maneuvers, double and single bars moves, and more.

The Hawaiian Ninja Warrior class was designed to get kids interested in fitness using the most popular themes today. The mission is if it can can get kids high on endorphins through exercise, it will aid them in positive choices in their lives.

Kids In Motion is working in the schools providing in-house programs for elementary students, a press release stated.

The two-day camp will be from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Tuesday and Thursday for elementary school kids, 65-1078 Mamalahoa Highway in Waimea.

Classes are also available.
