KAILUA-KONA — Big Island police are asking for the public’s help in locating two East Hawaii men who have been reported as missing.

Justin Garcia, 38, of Hilo, was reported to have gone missing while hunting in the Laupahoehoe mauka area on June 5, according to the Hawaii Police Department. A man later called police identifying himself as Garcia, but he was never contacted in person to verify his identity.

Garcia has reportedly been seen in various districts since June. He is described as being 5 feet, 9 inches tall, weighing 130 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes. He was last seen wearing a black shirt, black jacket and shorts and carrying a grey/green backpack.

Police are searching for 34-year old Jarryd Ahquin, who was last seen early Oct. 5 in the Hawaiian Beaches area. Ahquin is known to frequent the Hilo and Puna areas.

He is described as being “local,” about 5 feet, 8 inches tall, weighing 230 pounds, with brown eyes, and black hair that is shaved.

Anyone with information on the whereabouts of Garcia or Ahquin should call the department’s nonemergency line at 935-3311.
