Adeline Lewi

Adeline Kahalaonaona Lewi, 86, of Kailua-Kona, died Sept. 21, 2019, at Nakamaru Hale in Holualoa, Born Feb. 13, 1933, in Kahaluu, Kona, she was a homemaker, caregiver, lauhala weaver, retired housekeeper, prep cook and former member of Ahahui Kaahumanu.

A celebration of life will be held at noon Oct. 20 at Makaeo Main Events Pavilion located at Kona Old Airport. Service at 1 p.m. Condolences to the family may be sent to C.Caravalho Lewi. P.O. She is survived by son, Lester Lewi; daughters, Sandra Lewi, Francine Lewi, Cheryl Caravalho Lewi, Bernie Caravalho Lewi; brother, Delbert (Cindy) Smith; hanai daughters, Michelle (Albert) Amaral all of Kona, Sasha (Keola) Payao of Hilo; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Louis Ka’aukai, III

Louis Ka’aukai, III, 58, of Pu’ueopaku, died Sept. 24, 2019, in Hilo. He was a veteran who served as a staff sergeant with the United States Marine Corps, employed as a heavy truck driver with the Department of Transportation State Highways Division in Hilo, a member of numerous baseball and softball organizations and he had a passion for hunting.

A celebration of life Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Oct, 15 at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Papaikou, Visitation is from 8-9:30 a.m. Casual attire and lei are welcomed. Private urn committal.

He is survived by wife, Evelyn Cruz Ka’aukai of Pu’ueopaku; sons, Jeffery (Stephanie) Cruz, Jeremy Ka’aukai and Jonah Ka’ukai of Pu’ueopaku; sisters, Lisa Ann P. Ka’aukai-Cole of Virginia, Melanie K. Ka’aukai of Pu’ueopaku and Michelle K. (Brian) Ka’aukai-Perreira of Pepeekeo; two grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.

Josephine Sakuda

Josephine Tomas Guerrero Sakuda, 64, of Honokaa died Sept. 20, 2019, at home. Born in the Philippines, she was the owner of J’s Asian Market, a member of the Honokaa Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church and the Honokaa Visayan Club.

Visitation will be 8-10:30 a.m. Oct. 12 at the Honokaa Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church. A Mass will be held at 11 a.m., followed by cremation. Casual attire; no flowers.

She is survived by husband, Henry G. Agdinaoay of Honokaa; son, Mark (Amber) Guerrero Catipon of Mesa, Ariz.; daughter, Dulce (Julian) Salazar of Oregon; stepsons, Rodney Agdinaoay, Rodell Agdinaoay and Ryan Agdinaoay of Maui; brothers, Henry Guerrero, Romeo Guerrero of the Philippines and Teodoro Guerrero of Kohala; sisters, Ruth Dela Cruz of Canada and Olivia Guerrero of Philippines; four grandchildren, numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.

John Hintze

John Otto Hintze, 84, of Hilo died Sept. 17, 2019, at his residence. Born in Stockton, Calif., he was a cattle rancher, electrical contractor, real estate agent and a veteran of the U.S. Army during the Korean War.

Services held.

He is survived by wife, Wanda Hintze of Hilo; son, Jim (Carla) Hintze of Caldwell, Idaho; daughter, Fronda (Tony) Harris of Hilo; five grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews.
