Hui Malama receives $307K grant

Hui Malama Ola Na Oiwi (Hui Malama) announced a two-year grant award of $307,000 from the Office of Hawaiian Affairs (OHA) Community Grant. This grant award supports the Uplifting the Health of the Hawaiian Nation by Perpetuating Culture and Strengthening Identity Project.

The goal of this project is to provide pathways and introduce the basics of various cultural practices.

The introductory classes include healthy hapai training workshops; hooponopono training workshops; grow your own laau (community garden training); level II laau lapaau training workshops (herbal healing medicine); lomilomi training workshops; and traditional Hawaiian games of the Makahiki season.

Hui Malama is dedicated to uplifting the health of the Hawaiian Nation by sharing the knowledge of Native Hawaiian cultural values, beliefs, and history. By providing these workshops Hui Malama will foster opportunities to spread awareness for and encourage the preservation of traditional healing.
