Rudy Pabre

Rudy Solomon Pabre, 78, of Kailua-Kona, died Sept. 29, 2019, at Hospice of Kona’s Nakamaru Hale. Born in Molokai on Sept. 9, 1941, he was a carpenter and last worked at the Bay Club in Waikoloa and a member of the Carpenter’s Union.

A celebration of life will be held from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Nov. 9 at Yano Hall in Captain Cook. Casual attire.

He is survived by his daughter, Noe (Kalani Torres) Pabre of Kailua-Kona; sons, Ryan Pabre of Kailua-Kona and Duane (Luca Rizzi) Pabre of Kamuela; ex-wife, Norma Sepulvida of Kailua-Kona; brothers, Geno (Fel) Pabre of Kainaliu and Foto (Moana) Pabre of Hawaiian Paradise Park; sister, Shirley Pabre of Ocean View; seven grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Leslie Silva

Leslie J. Silva, 59, of Hilo, died Oct. 19, 2019, at Hawaii Care Choices Pohai Malama Care Center.

Merrily Ligon

Merrily Anne Ligon, 76, of Hawaiian Paradise Park, died Oct. 6, 2019, at home. Born on Nov. 11, 1942, in Pontiac, Michigan, she was a former teamster and data processor for Staters Bros., markets and a data processor for Loma Linda University Medical Center, a U.S. Navy veteran and member of S.C.A. (Society for Creative Anachronism).

A graveside committal service will be held at noon Oct. 28 at Hawaii Veterans Cemetery No. 2. Casual attire.

She is survived by husband, Richard Ligon of Hawaiian Paradise Park; sister, Beverly Meyer of Minneapolis.

Margaret Inouye

Margaret Gayle Inouye, 73, of Hilo, died Oct. 16, 2019, at her residence. Born July 12, 1946, in Kansas, she was a retired librarian for the Hawaii Department of Education.

She is survived by brother, David (Sandy) Freeberg of Nebraska; caregiver, Vicky Hulihee-Nourrie; numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Geri Shindo

Geri Shinako Shindo, 84, of Hilo died Sept. 29, 2019, at The Queen’s Medical Center on Oahu. Born in Hilo, she was a retired secretary at Hilo Mechanical, Inc. and a member of the Honpa Hongwanji Hilo Betsuin.

Friends may call 3:30-5 p.m. Nov. 2 at Dodo Mortuary Chapel; memorial service at 5. Casual attire. Family requests no flowers or monetary gifts.

She is survived by husband, Thomas Shindo of Hilo; daughter, Valerie (Craig) Uehira of Mililani; son, Russell Shindo of Hilo; sister-in-law, Asako Tanaka of Hilo; brother-in-law, Takeshi Higashi of Honolulu; one grandson, numerous nieces and nephews.

Irene Oshiro

Irene Kikue Oshiro, 94, of Mountain View, died Oct. 4, 2019, at Hawaii Care Choices Pohai Malama Care Center. Born Aug. 5, 1925, in Honomu, she was retired from the former Food Fair Supermarket and a member of Puna Hongwanji Mission.

Friends may call at 4 p.m. Nov. 1 at Dodo Mortuary chapel in Hilo for a 5 p.m. service. Family requests casual attire be worn and no flowers.

She is survived by husband, Richard Eisei Oshiro of Hilo; daughter, Jeanne Nagatani of Honolulu; son, Russel (Marcella) Oshiro of Hilo; sister, Akiko Shimabukuro of Mountain View; five grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews.

Leo Audette

Leo R. Audette, 63, of Hilo died Oct. 12, 2019, at Hilo Medical Center. He was born in Holyoke, Mass., and was the owner of the former Audette Air Co.

A scattering of ashes will occur at sea on Maui during a celebration of life ceremony later this month. Donations can be made to the American Diabetes Association at www.diabetes.org in memory of the Late Mr. Audette.

Ruth Sasaki

Ruth Charlotte Sasaki, 80, of Hilo, died Oct. 17, 2019, at Hilo Medical Center. She was born in Germany and was a homemaker.

Private services held. No koden (monetary donations).

She is survived by husband, Kenneth Sasaki of Hilo; son, Andrew (Miriam) Sasaki of Henderson, Nev.; daughter, Stefanie Sasaki of Honolulu; three grandchildren, two nieces and two nephews.

Roland Hamasaki

Roland Sadayoshi Hamasaki, 99, of Hilo, died Oct. 21, 2019, at his residence. Born in Kapulena, he was a retired farmer and member of Papaaloa Hongwanji Mission.

A private service was held. Family requests no monetary offerings.

He is survived by sons, Edward Hamasaki and Randall Hamasaki; daughter, Sara Hamasaki; sisters, Ruby Shintani and Thelma Yasuhara; brother, Ernest Hamasaki; three grandchildren; one great-grandchild.
