Julita Talaro Castulo, 98, of Honokaa, died Sept. 11, 2019, at Hilo Medical Center. Born June 27, 1921, in Ilocos Norte, Philippines, she was homemaker and a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Honokaa.
Friends may call on Nov. 9 at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Honokaa, visitation from 8-10 a.m.; Mass at 10. Casual attire; flowers are welcome. Burial to follow at the Church Cemetery.

Charles Supe Sr.
Charles Kauapoailani Supe Sr. 82, of Hilo, died Sept. 30, 2019, at The Queen’s Medical Center. Born Aug. 5, 1937, in Hilo, he was a retired State of Hawaii Parks District Superintendent of Hawaii and he also was a U.S. Air Force veteran.
Friends may call Nov. 2 at the Kamehameha Schools Bernice Pauahi Bishop Chapel in Honolulu; visitation from 10-11 a.m.; memorial service at 11 a.m. Friends may call again Nov. 5 at Dodo Mortuary Chapel, in Hilo; visitation from 9-10:30 a.m.; memorial service at 10:30. Edward “Eddie” Matsumoto, 83 of Kalaoa, died Oct. 1, 2019. Born Sept. 22, 1936, in Kona, he was a retired senior inspector mechanic for Aloha Airlines.

He is survived by siblings, James, Warren and Eileen; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Verna Kaawa
Verna Ewalani Kaawa, 64, of Waiohinu, Ka‘u, died Oct. 23, 2019, at Hilo Medical Center. Born July 13, 1955, in Kukuiopae, South Kona, she was a former Title 1 tutor and an After School Program coordinator for Naalehu Elementary School, a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Ka‘u Ward, Naalehu Community Club, Ka’u Archery and Naalehu Mainstreet.

Maile “Aunty Maile” Abigail Auwae Mauhili, 85 of Keaukaha, died Oct. 19, 2019, at home. Born in Olaa, she was a retired Hilo High School campus security, founder of the Kailana Canoe Club, board member of HCRA, the Moku O Hawaii Canoe Racing Associations, member of Malia Puka O Kalani Catholic Church.
Visitation will be held from 8 to 11 a.m. Nov. 2 at Malia Puka O Kalani Catholic Church Hall; Mass at 11 a.m.; burial to follow at Homelani Memorial Park, Section 7. Casual attire.

Austin Ward
Austin Piihoukaikaika Ward, 24, of Waimea, died Oct. 20, 2019, at home. Born May 9, 1995, in Kealakekua, he was a lance corporal in the United States Marine Corps, stationed in San Diego, California.
Viewing will be held at 9 a.m. Nov. 10 at the Pu’ukapu farm lot at 64-840 Ainahua Alanui St. in Waimea. A celebration of life will begin at 10:30 a.m. with luncheon to follow.
He is survived by girlfriend, Carissa K. Vallente of Honokaa; mother, Haunani (Frank) Lalakea of Mountain View; brothers, Sage Ward, Chance Ward and Oshen Ward, all of Kailua-Kona; numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

David Aholelei
David Waimea Vaiola Aholelei, 18, of Kailua-Kona, died Oct. 25, 2019, at City of Hope in California. Born in Phoenix, on Nov. 3, 2000, he attended Waikoloa School and graduated from Kealakehe High School where he was a member of the Kealakehe High School Waveriders football team, and the Boy Scouts of America.
Visitation will be held at 9 a.m. Nov. 2 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints Chapel at 75-230 Kalani St. in Kailua-Kona. Funeral service will begin at 11 a.m. followed by burial at Kona Memorial Park in Holualoa.

Antonia Rodriguez Lambayan, 83, of Hilo, died Oct. 25, 2019, at Hilo Medical Center, born on March 2, 1936, in Cagayan, Philippines; she was a court and self-employed interpreter and translator for the State and County of Hawaii and an Immigration Specialist, and a Peace Corps instructor, and member of various Filipino organizations and a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Hilo.

Norman Oda
Norman “Kele” Oda, 74 of Lahaina, Maui died on Oct. 3, 2019, at home in Kurtistown. Born Dec. 19, 1944, on Maui, he was a general contractor and woodworker.
