Kenneth Nishihira

Kenneth Sotoku Nishihira, 79, of Hilo, died Oct. 25, 2019, at Life Care Center of Hilo. Born Sept. 11, 1940, in Honomu, he was a self-employed real estate appraiser, Hawaii Army National Guard veteran and former member of Honomu Hongwanji Mission and Honomu Hongwanji Koyukai.

Private services were held. Family requests no monetary gifts or flowers.

He is survived by sons, Guy (Christy) Nishihira of Waipahu, Oahu, Bryce (Alyssa) Nishihira of Hilo; sisters, Masako Tsukimura of Torrance, Calif., Linda (Robert) Otomo of Hilo; sisters-in-law, two grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews.

Eve Hayselden

Eve Dorothy Hayselden, 86, of Hilo died Oct. 19, 2019, at the Hilo Medical Center. Born in Hilo, she was a retired licensed practical nurse at the former Hilo Hospital and a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church.

Friends may call 9-10 a.m. Nov. 8 at the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Hilo. Memorial Mass is at 10. Casual attire.

She is survived by sons, Henry (Helene Makuakane) Hayselden, Jr. of Hilo, Anthony C. Hayselden of Hilo, Steve Hayselden of Hilo; brother, James (Agnes) Aguiar of Hilo; sister, Jane (George) Sweeney of Salinas, California; three grandchildren, one great-grandson, numerous nieces and nephews.

Rodrigo Borreta

Rodrigo “Rudy” Fernandez Borreta, 94 of Hilo, died Oct. 13, 2019, at Hilo Medical Center. Born Nov. 15, 1925 in Bangui, Philippines, he was the CEO of Sunrise Service aka C. Borreta and Sons.

Services to be held at 5:15 p.m. Nov. 5 at Malia Puka O Kalani Church, 326 Desha Ave., in Hilo. No flowers.

Rodrigo is survived by sons, Cisco (Debbie) Javar, John (John) Javar, Rodrigo Borreta Jr., Michael (Kuu) Borreta, Wayne Borreta; daughters, Genevive Borreta, Bernadine Borreta, Lorie Borreta, Luana Borreta, 35 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, numerous great-great-grandchildren.

Rosita Lucero

Rosita Pascual Lucero, 85, of Kurtistown died Oct. 4, 2019, at Hilo Medical Center. Born in Waipahu, she retired as an office clerk from Hilo High School, and was a member of the Keaau Congregation of Jehovah Witnesses.

A memorial service will be held from 9:30-11 a.m. Nov. 7 at the Mountain View Kingdom Hall of Jehovah Witnesses with an urn committal to be held at noon at Homelani Memorial Park in the Japanese Garden. Family requests casual attire and no flowers. Online condolences: www.homelanimemorialpark.com.

She survived by sisters, Natividad Lariosa (Telesforo) of Oahu, Adelaide Duyao (Ismael) of Maui, Francisca Naiga (Ricarte) of Pahoa; bother, Miguel Pascual (Hilda) of California; sons, Fred Ross Lucero and Peter James Lucero; two granddaughters; five great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
