Kona Civil Air Patrol preps for veterans wreath-laying

This Veterans Day weekend, Civil Air Patrol’s Kona Composite Squadron will be staffing donation booths across West Hawaii to purchase holiday wreaths from Wreaths Across America for a wreath-laying ceremony at the West Hawaii Veteran’s Cemetery, to be held at 9 a.m. Dec. 14. The goal is to raise enough money to lay a wreath on every grave.

This will be the squadron’s ninth year of participation in this event, which involves more than 1,500 veterans cemeteries across the country. The Kona Composite Squadrons’s color guard will be participating during the Veterans Day ceremonies at the cemetery on Monday, and members will be available after the ceremony to receive donations for the holiday wreaths.

Civil Air Patrol cadets can be found at the following locations, days and times:

Today: Waimea KTA 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Sunday: Waimea KTA 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Monday: West Hawaii Veterans’ Cemetery 11 a.m. to noon.
