Michael Ream

Michael James Ream, 67, of Kalapana died Oct. 28, 2019, at his residence. Born in Lima, Ohio, he was a retired chiropractor and member of the Hilo Sailing Club.

A celebration of his life will take place from 1:30-5 p.m. Nov. 17 at Uncle Robert’s in Kalapana. Friends may bring written messages; a memory book of letters will be compiled for Michael.

Survived by wife, Norma Jean Ream of Kalapana; daughters, Lisa Flores of Kalapana, Lillie Ream of Cincinnati, Ohio; sons, Kristopher Knight of Kansas City, Missouri, David Ream of Kalapana; brothers, Donald Ream of Phoenix, Arizona, Robert Ream of Kalapana; sisters, Jolene Bibler of Findlay, Ohio, Theresa Whilheim of Miamisburgh, Ohio; two grandchildren, two great-grandchildren. Sherilyn Uemura

Sherilyn Mae Uemura, 72, of Captain Cook, died Oct. 31, 2019, at her residence. Born Dec. 26, 1946, in Hilo, she was a retired cafeteria worker for Kealakehe Intermediate School, teacher’s aide for Honaunau Elementary School, and a floor staff movie theater cashier.

Private memorial service will be held.

Survived by son, Stevie (Tricia) Uemura; daughters, Marlene (Daniel) Akeo all of Captain Cook, Nadine (James) Uina of Hilo, Tanya (Moses) Bannister of Captain Cook; brothers, Steven (Judy) Nitura of Nevada, Elroy (Cathye) Nitura of California, Patrick Nitura of Nevada; 11 grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews.

William Shackelford

William “Billy” Paul Shackelford, 66, of Hilo, died Nov. 09, 2019, at home. Born Sept. 26, 1953, in Arlington, Va., he was retired from US Airways and was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran.

Friends may call at 5 p.m. Nov. 21 at Dodo Mortuary chapel in Hilo for a 6 p.m. service. Family requests casual attire be worn.

Survived by wife, Gay Covington; brothers, Thomas Shackelford and Michael Shackelford.

Frances Molcilio

Frances Velez Molcilio, 84, of Mountain View, died Oct. 21, 2019, at Hilo Medical Center. Born June 21, 1935, in Kohala, she worked at Kahuku Ranch as a cleaning lady and cook for 30 years. She also worked at the candy shop at Naalehu Theater.

Services will be held at Kahuku National Park Kahuku Ranch on Nov. 23, 10 a.m. until pau. Family requests western attire with a splash of red.

Frances is survived by daughters, Yvonne (Jr.) Souza of Waikoloa, Debbie Molcilio of Mountain View, Valerie (Phil) Silva of Mountain View, Latty (Jr.) Vierra of Kailua-Kona; Sister, Beatrice Walker of Oregon; 22 grandchildren, and 42 great-grandchildren.

Clinton Carter Jr.

Clinton L. Carter Jr. 72, of Mountain View, died Nov. 2, 2019 at Hilo Medical Center. Born Nov. 27, 1946 in Hartford, Conn., he was a veteran of the United States Air Force, and a retired Journeyman.

Private services held.

Survived by spouse April Carter of Colorado; sons, Clinton Carter III of Colorado, William Carter of Connecticut, Jeffrey Carter of Connecticut; daughter, Lisa Carter of Connecticut; sisters, Nancy Carter of Florida, Barbara Kinchen of Florida, Evelyn Olander of Connecticut; nine grandchildren.
