The service time for Satsuko “Nancy” Tanaka, 90, of Kealakekua, was incorrectly listed in an obituary earlier. Visitation will be held at 10 a.m. Nov. 30 at Daifukuji Soto Mission in Honalo. Memorial service will begin at 11 a.m.

Harumi Takahashi
Harumi “Doris” Takahashi, 93, of Hilo, died Oct. 30, 2019. Born July 23, 1926, in Papaaloa, she was a homemaker and member of Hilo Higashi Hongwanji Mission and Fujinkai.
Private services were held. Family requests no monetary gifts or flowers.
Survived by sons, Dennis (Christine) Takahashi and Leslie (Annete) Takahashi of Keaau; daughters, Ann Uchida of Hilo, Charlene (Manuel Jr.) Soares and Pauline (Rodney) Tanaka of Keaau; brother, Hisayoshi Higuchi of Utah; sister, Chieko Elizares of Hilo; brother-in-law, sister-in-law, numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren, a great-great-grandchild, nieces and nephews.

Franell Pe’a-Henry
Franell K. Pe’a-Henry, 51, died at Hilo Medical Center on Nov. 2, 2019. Born on March 3, 1968, in Kona, she was a loving wife and mother.
Services were held at Ballard Family Mortuary Hilo at 570 Kinoole St. in Hilo.
Survived by husband, Lloyd K. Henry; father, Francis W. Pe’a; mother Linell M. Pe’a; sons, Daylen Chang, David Chang; daughters, Shannon Dalmacio, Shauntea Chang; stepdaughter, Leanne Mahi; brothers Lirahn Pe’a, Ricky Acevedo; sister, Johnell Pe’a; five grandchildren; numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Luna Massey
Luna “Auntie Lilly” Massey died Nov. 14, 2019, days before her 93rd birthday, at her home. Born and raised in Albuquerque, N.M, she lived in many states before leaving a legacy in Hawaii through her work with the children at Mokuaikaua Church in Kona.

Lilly was preceded in death by her daughter, Loretta Massey.

Robert Nishimoto
Dr. Robert Hisashi Nishimoto, 71, of Hilo, died Nov. 4, 2019, at Hilo Medical Center. Born in Hilo, he was a retired professor from the University of Southern California Graduate School of Sociology, Volunteers in Service to America worker on a Native American reservation in Rapid City, South Dakota, social worker for Catholic Social Services in Van Nuys and Lancaster, California, volunteer at the Food Basket-Hawaii Island’s Food Bank, RSVP program, Hawaii Care Choices and a member of Honpa Hongwanji Hilo Betsuin.
Private services were held. Family requests no monetary gifts. Donations may be made to Honpa Hongwanji Hilo Betsuin or Hawaii Care Choices in his name.
He is survived by an aunt and numerous cousins.

Melvyn Sato
Melvyn Masaichi Sato, 70, of Hilo, died Nov. 7, 2019, at Hawaii Care Choices Pohai Malama Care Center. Born July 30, 1949, in Hilo, he was a retired police officer for the Hawaii Police Department, retired mail carrier for the United States Postal Service, had worked for Securitas at Hilo Airport, U.S. Air Force veteran and member of SHOPO (State of Hawaii Organization of Police Officers).
Private services were held.
He is survived by mother, Mildred Sato of Hilo; brother, Lesley (Darol Tanigawa) Sato of Hilo; sister, Lyndee (Brian) Yoneishi of Hilo; numerous nieces, nephews, aunts and cousins.

Mitsuko Tomono
Mitsuko Tomono, 89, of Volcano died Nov. 1, 2019, at a private care home in Keaau. Born in Hilo, she was a retired waitress at the Volcano House Restaurant, member of the Kurtistown Jodo Mission and participated in senior activities at the Cooper Center in Volcano.
Private services held. Family request no flowers and no koden.
She is survived by sons, Byron (Lynn) Tomono of Hilo, Chester (Susan) Tomono of Hilo; daughters, Nancy (Jesus) Sanchez of El Paso, Texas, Sandra (DeDwayne) Malachi of Oahu, Sherri Ann (Darryl) Powell of Cincinnati, Ohio; brothers, Tsutomu Kawamoto of Hilo, Raymond (Diane) Kawamoto of Hilo; sister, Masako Shimasaki of Hilo; 10 grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews.
