Cynthia Alapai

Cynthia Lei Alapai, 59, of Papa Bay, died Nov. 14, 2019, at Kona Community Hospital. Born Jan. 23, 1960, in Keopu, she was a telemetry technician at the Kona Community Hospital and member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.

An all-night vigil will be held at 5 p.m. Dec. 6 at the family’s residence, 74-5157 Puuolokaa Place in Kailua-Kona. Viewing will be held at 9 a.m. Dec. 7 at Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Kailua-Kona for a 10 a.m. funeral service with luncheon to follow. The family requests white attire for those attending the services. An all-day celebration of life will take place Dec. 8 at the family’s residence, 88-1600 Mamalahoa Highway in Papa Bay.

Survived by husband, Jocinto Johnson of Papa Bay; sons, Jocinto (Shavana) Johnson, Jr. of Hilo, Kekumu Johnson and Hiapo Johnson of Papa Bay; daughters, Jocina (Kaeo) Alani of Hoopuloa, Cecilia Johnson of Papa Bay, Kamahana (Kevin) Johnson of Kalihi, Josephine (Brendan) Johnson of Ocean View and Tehani (Kaai) Johnson of Papa Bay; brothers, Robert (Sharon) Alapai of Hilo, James (Trina) Alapai of Kalaoa Kona, Joseph Alapai of Kailua-Kona, Patrick (Lovelyn) Alapai, and Hiram (Corina) Alapai of Kalaoa, Derrick (Megan) Alapai of Kailua-Kona; sisters, Maile (Bruce) Goold of Los Angeles, Cindy (David) Kaulia of Kailua-Kona, Nani (Isaac) Hoohuli of Kealia; 11 grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Charmaine Ige

Charmaine Puilani Ige, 64, of Hilo died Nov. 17, 2019, at the Hilo Medical Center. Born in Laupahoehoe, she was a inventory clerk for KTA Super Stores Puainako, and employed with the former Peat, Marwick, Mitchell and Company.

Friends may call 9-10 a.m. Dec. 6 at Dodo Mortuary Chapel; memorial service at 10. Family requests casual attire to be worn and flowers be omitted.

Survived by husband, William Ige of Hilo; brothers, Tyrone (Wilma) Revilla of Honomu, Modesto (Teresita) Revilla, Jr. of Hilo; four sisters-in-law; one brother-in-law; numerous nieces and nephews.

Barbara Madawi

Barbara Jane Madawi, 82, of Kailua-Kona, died Nov. 24, 2019, at a private care home. Born April 30, 1937, in Honaunau, she was a retired bookkeeper for Hawaii Fumigation and H.Cho Enterprise, member of Trinity Community Church and a US WAC veteran.

A celebration of life will be held 9:30 a.m. Dec. 7 at the Cho Family beach lot in Honaunau. Service at 10:30. Scattering of ashes and luncheon to follow. Family requests no flowers. Marjorie Fergerstrom

Marjorie Fergerstrom, 78 of Kalaoa, died Sept. 27, 2019, at Kona Community Hospital. Born Dec. 8, 1940, in Kealakekua, she was a Kona airport greeter.

A celebration of life will be held 11 a.m. Dec. 8 at Laka canoe halau (Bayfront). Visitation begins at 10 a.m.

Marjorie is survived by daughter, Lori Ann Sakamoto of Hilo; brother, Gilbert Nakayama of Kealakekua; two sisters-in-law; two grandchildren; numerous cousins.
