Under the Kona Moon tonight
Kuma hula Etua Lopes will headline Under the Kona moon at 6 p.m. tonight at Hulihee Palace.
Lopes grew up on Oahu, the youngest of 10 siblings, and spent his teen years learning hula from George Na’ope, kuma hula legend in Hawaii’s entertainment world. Etua will share his stories during the monthly cultural celebration of the many teachers under whom he learned.
Gates open at 5:30 p.m.
Chamber Orchestra concerts Sunday, Monday
Join the Chamber Orchestra of Kona in a celebration of this festive season with more than an hour of orchestral music. The concert will feature holiday favorites over two dates, 4:30 p.m. Sunday and 6:30 p.m. Monday.
Both concerts will be presented at Privateers Cove at the Hualalai Center, 75-170 Hualalai Road.
General admission tickets are $10. Students under 18 will be admitted free.

Craft Fair Saturday
A winter crafts fair will take place 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the parking lot of Teshima Restaurant on Saturday.
Parking will be available to the public at the restaurant and next door at the Daifukuji Soto Mission Temple.
LAM hosts December events
Ladies Artisan Market is hosting a free, fun and festive event featuring a wide selection of Hawaii Island artists and vendors from 3-7 p.m. Friday at the Fairmont Orchid’s Paniolo Room – lobby level and in the Luana Lounge (minus bar area) and along the lanai.
Food and drink will be available for purchase featuring offerings from the onsite bar and restaurants including their new restaurant, Binchotan Bar &Grill. Live entertainment provided by Binti Bailey Music.

Art fair for Anna Ranch Heritage Center
Get ready for the three-day art fair coming this weekend to the Anna Ranch Heritage Center, 65-1480 Kawaihae Road in Waimea, featuring an art show, art classes and workshops, and local art for sale. The show will be held 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday.
Special events include: Keiki Arts &Crafts, 2-4 p.m. every day, “Mimosa Mingle” breakfast treats served 10 a.m. to noon Sunday and Closing Party 4-6 p.m. Monday with refreshments and an art raffle.

Harmony and Balance show at Tiffany’s
With the holiday season upon us, Tiffany’s Art Agency Gallery in Hawi is offering up a place of respite with a show titled Harmony and Balance for the month of December. A Collectors Reception will be held from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Saturday and the featured artists will be available to talk story with art lovers.
In the show you’ll discover serene works of art with neutral color palettes that are easy on the eyes—all created by local artists. Pieces range from incredibly detailed marquetry of a Koi Pond by fine woodworker, David Reisland, to Color Study collages by Mary Spears.
Tiffany’s Art Agency Gallery is open daily from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. and showcases Hawaii Island’s most prominent artists who create a variety of media, including oil paintings, woodwork, sculptures, ceramics and photography.

Pua Na Pua Arts Festival on Saturday
Full Life Hawaii, Abled Hawaii Artists (AHA) and Donkey Mill Art Center announce the fourth annual Pua Na Pua Arts Festival, empowering people of all abilities to explore self-employment through the arts.
This year’s festival will be held from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at Lanihau Center in Kailua-Kona.
This art fair is the only one of its kind in West Hawaii, inclusively celebrating the contributions of both developmentally-disabled (DD) and non-DD artists, with booths available to artists of all abilities. The event will feature arts, crafts, live holiday music, hula, sensory booths, a silent auction, KWXX Treasure Chest, ono food vendors, a Keiki Zone with photos with Santa, face painting and more!
Salvation Army encourages Angel Tree donations
The Salvation Army Hawaiian and Pacific Islands Division is asking Hawaii’s communities to support Angel Trees as the annual program comes to a completion today. Gift distributions will be held around the state later next week.
“We are grateful to those in our community who have already pulled Angel Tree tags and provided gifts for keiki and kupuna in need,” said Major Jeff Martin, Divisional Leader for The Salvation Army Hawaiian and Pacific Islands Division. “As the program winds down for the season, we’d like to remind those who have pulled tags to return them to the Angel Tree where they were taken from. Most trees will finish this Friday, Dec. 13, so there are just a few days remaining to fulfill the gift requests and bring smiles to those in need on Christmas.”
Additionally, there is a specific request for support of approximately 500 remaining Angel Tree tags in the Kailua-Kona community.
“The best way the public can help is to stop by one of our three Angel Trees in Kona including Central Pacific Bank and Kona Walmart on Henry Street, and The Club Kona on Kopiko Street. Donors also can drop off new gifts at our Kona Corps located at 75-223 Kalani Street in Kailua-Kona,” said Lt. Raghel Santiago, officer for The Salvation Army Kona Corps.
Last year, more than 31,000 gifts for keiki and seniors were donated through the Angel Tree program in Hawaii.
