Dorian Vittek

Dorian Lester Vittek, 80, of Kailua-Kona, died Dec. 10, 2019, at her residence. Born July 6, 1939, in Detroit, she was an award-winning advertising copywriter, a former office manager, mortgage broker and integral member of Vittek Law Office in Franklin, N.H.

Private service to be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers donations may be sent to Hospice of Kona, P.O. Box 4130, Kailua-Kona, HI 96745.

She is survived by husband, Joseph Vittek, Jr. of Kailua-Kona; daughter, Karen Boston; daughter-in-law; two grandchildren, all of Kailua-Kona.

Tracy Medeiros

Tracy “Buddy” Ahulau Medeiros, 85, of Kailua-Kona, died Oct. 31, 2019, at Kona Community Hospital. Born April 4, 1934, in Hilo, he was an airport security guard for Securitas Security Services, a retired supervisor and cable splicer for Hawaiian Telephone Company, a fisherman and U.S. Army veteran.

A celebration of life fellowship and luncheon will be held at noon Jan. 11 at West Hawaii Community Health Recreation Center, 74-5214 Keanalehu Drive in Kona. Casual attire. For information call (808) 329-2020. Condolences to the family may be sent c/o L.Lee, P.O. Box 1391, Kailua-Kona, HI 96745.

He is survived by daughters, Aulani Pajimola of Honolulu, Louana (Steve) Macomber, Tamla Bush all of Kailua-Kona; grandchildren, great-grandchildren, a great-great-granddaughter, numerous nieces and nephews.

Toribio Banquil, Sr.

Toribio Charles Banquil, Sr., 85, of Pahoa, died Dec. 11, 2019, at home. Born in Banna, San Nicolas, Ilocos Norte, the Philippines, he was a papaya farmer awarded the Territorial Future Farmers of America Star Hawaii Planter Award, the prestigious Future Farmers of America American Farmer Degree, the Wallace Rider Farrington Award and other awards and recognitions from the National Future Farmers of America Foundation in 1957 for his accomplishments of being the first farmer to successfully grow papaya in lava from the 1955 Puna eruption. He was also a member of the Pahoa Senior Citizens and served in the Hawaii Army National Guard.

Visitation will be 5-6 p.m. Dec. 27 at the Dodo Mortuary chapel. Celebration of life held at 6 p.m., followed by cremation. Casual attire; no flowers.

He is survived by wife, Erminia Banquil of Pahoa; sons, Toribio Banquil, Jr. of Pahoa and Donnielson (Adrianna) Banquil of Kaneohe; daughters, Erleina (Carl) Danao of Ewa Beach, Oahu, Leitricia Banquil of Pahoa and Nichole (Kevin) Nakamichi of Kaimuki; brother, Eleno (Nancy) Banquil of Ewa Beach; sisters, Annabel (Glen) Krenke of Indianapolis and Estipania (Kelii) Gross of Kailua, Oahu; seven grandchildren, numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

Ernest Caravalho

Mr. Ernest Caravalho, 77, of Ocean View, died Dec. 13, 2019, at Yukio Okutsu Veterans State Home. Born May 12, 1942, in Kohala, he was a retired construction worker; a cowboy for Julian Gouveia, and a U.S. Army veteran who served in Vietnam.

Graveside services will be held at noon Dec. 30, 2019, at the West Hawaii Veterans Cemetery in Kailua-Kona. The family requests casual attire.

He is survived by his sisters, Isabel Gomes of Honaunau, Ruby (Mel) Gacusana of Hilo, Jennifer (Lynn) Beaudet of Kauai, and Doris Matias of Captain Cook; hanai sons, Jason and William Santana; aunts; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
