Butterflies at the Library
Jeffrey Hill, a resident of Kailua-Kona, spends his off time creating realistic paper mache fish and insects. These creations — reef fish of the Hawaii and the Pacific and more — have been exhibited at libraries on the Big Island and in Portland, Oregon.
Hill’s most recent exhibit, 15 sculptures of butterflies from the Big Island along with informational material, will be displayed Dec. 31 to Jan. 31. at the Kailua-Kona library. Special attention will be paid to the monarch, Kona’s most common butterfly, and to the Kamehameha butterfly, the state insect.
