Dorothy Kalino

Dorothy Momi “Dora” Kalino, 90, of Kailua-Kona, died Nov. 15, 2019, at Life Care Center of Kona. Born in Honolulu on July 26, 1929, she was a secretary at Dole Cannery and Lankila Crafts.

Visitation will be held at 8:30 a.m. Jan. 6, 2020, at Mililani Memorial Park and Mortuary in Waipahu, Oahu; funeral service will begin at 9:30 a.m. with burial to follow. The family requests casual attire and flowers are welcome.

She is survived by her sons, Bruce (Flores) Kalino of Las Vegas, NV, Lott (Karen) Kalino of Honolulu; daughter, Annie Delaries of Waikoloa; eight grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.

Carol Copeland

Carol Elizabeth Copeland, 66, of Oceanview, died Dec. 24, 2019, at home with her husband. Born on June 17, 1953 in Muncie, Indiana, she worked as a MSN, BSN, RN for Community Ties of America as a compliance officer for the State of Hawaii Nurse Aid Training Program, as a college instructor for RNs in Indiana and also worked for 10 years as a surgical nurse at Ball Hospital in Muncie, Indiana.

She is survived by her husband, Michael Copeland of Oceanview; sons, Jeremy Lynn of Fishers, Indiana, Joshua Lynn of Hilo; sisters, Nancy Nolan of Yorktown, Indiana; and Mona Goforth of Winchester, Indiana.

Alfred Mendoza

Alfred Eugene Mendoza, of Kailua-Kona, died Dec. 22, 2019, in Kailua-Kona. Born Feb. 8, 1949, in Mississippi, he served in the Army and worked as a pipe fitter at Pearl Harbor.

Coreen Atebara

Coreen Atebara, 54, of Hilo, died Nov. 13, 2019, in Hilo. Born Dec. 10, 1964, in Hilo, she was a realtor.

Friends may call at 12:30 p.m. Jan. 4, 2020, at Honpa Hongwanji Hilo Betsuin, 398 Kilauea Ave., for a 2 p.m. service. The family requests casual attire be worn.

She is survived by husband, Walter Atebara; sons, Nicholas Palmer, Conner Palmer; step-children, Dr. Kelsey Atebara, Kevin (Shaunn) Atebara, Dr. Kristen (Terrence) Atebara; father, Stanley (Lina) Shiroma; brothers, Neil Shiroma, Dean Shiroma; sister, Karen (Allan) Reeves; brother-in-law, sister-in-law, two step-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Mildred Kaneta

Mildred Hideko Kaneta, 93, of Paukaa, died Dec. 16, 2019, at home. Born Sept. 13, 1926, in Honokaa, she was a retired cook from the former Sky Chefs and Dick’s Coffee House and member of Papaikou Hongwanji Mission, Orchid Isle Dance Club, Hawaii Ballroom Dance Association and Big Island Ballroom Dance Club.

Friends may call at 4 p.m. Jan. 3, at Dodo Mortuary chapel in Hilo for a 5 p.m. service. Family requests casual attire be worn and no flowers.

She is survived by sons, Dell (Lea) Kaneta, Alan (Carol) Kaneta, both of Hilo; daughters, Jeanne Demattos of Pepeekeo, Laurie Kaneta of Hilo; brothers, Walter (May) Takimoto of Kaneohe, Oahu, Roy (Priscilla) Takimoto of Honolulu, Herman (Jane) Takimoto of Hilo; sisters, Ruth Tachibana of Hilo, Katherine Wong of Arizona, Earline (Richard) Nakamoto of Kaneohe, Oahu; seven grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews.

Iwao Takaki

Iwao Takaki, 93, of Naalehu, died Dec. 2, 2019, at Hilo Medical Center. Born July 30, 1926, in Pahala, he was a retired welder from the former Ka’u Sugar Company, U.S. Army World War II veteran and member of Naalehu Hongwanji Mission.

Friends may call at 10 a.m., Jan. 4, at Dodo Mortuary chapel in Hilo for an 11 a.m. service. Family requests casual attire be worn.

He is survived by son, Rodney Takaki of Pahala; daughters, Nora (Robert) Kaaua of Hilo, June (Albert) Takaki-Garcia of Naalehu; sisters, Ayame Nagata of Hilo, Yaeko Inoue of Kaneohe, Oahu, Toshiko Mikawa of Cerritos, Calif.; sisters-in-law, brother-in-law, five grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews.
