Want to really learn to play bridge?
Kona Bridge Club is offering two classes for advancing bridge players. Competitive Bidding class will kick off 1-3 p.m. Saturday and meet weekly for five sessions. The student will learn how to compete in the bidding auction and covers overcalls, takeout doubles and preemptive bidding. The cost of $25 includes the text. Defensive Play of the Hand begins 1-3 p.m. Sunday and meets weekly for five sessions. This class teaches subjects related to playing Defense such as choosing the lead, play of the hand by the defenders, and card distribution patterns. The cost is $35 which includes the teaching materials for the first 20 students. Contact Patrick Kallaus at p_kallaus@hotmail.com for more info.
Both classes will be held at the Kona Bridge Club, Makua Lani Christian Academy, located at 74-4966 Kealakaa St. in Kailua-Kona, Hawaii . Prior bridge experience is required for both courses.

December Bridge Club winners announced
First place finishers for the ACBL Kona Bridge Club for the month of December are listed below. Two Sectional tournaments were held.
To play bridge, there are four players at each table, North and South are partners competing against the East and West partners for each bridge contract and are scored as such.
On Monday there are two sections competing separately (novice and advanced) if there are enough players for two sections.
Kona Bridge Club hosts ACBL games on Monday, Wednesday and Saturdays at 1 p.m. at the Makua Lani Academy. Visitors are welcome.
