Joel Arruda

Joel Arruda, 68, of Hilo, died Dec. 20, 2019, at Life Care Center of Hilo. Born on Sept. 8, 1951, in Hilo, he was a sugar factory worker.

Private Services to be held. No flowers, no kodan, and no gifts.

Joel is survived by brother, Clayton Arruda of Hawaii; sisters, Mabel Jernstrom of Hawaii, Miriam Quiret of Hawaii,, Carolyn Cabreira of Washington, Elaine Cheer of Oklahoma.

Conchita Dela Cruz

Conchita Dela Cruz, 76, of Hilo, died Dec. 8, 2019, at her residences. Born on May 14, 1943, in Hawaii, she was employed by the Old Mun Cheong Lau and was a Llicensed child care provider.

Celebration of life will be held 11:30 a.m. Jan. 6 at Carvalho Park.

Conchita is survived by son, Don Dela Cruz; daughters, Melissa (Charlie) Nerida of Hilo, Jeannelle Dela Cruz of Hilo, Serena (Charles) Reddoor of Kona; brother, Ernest Dela Cruz; sisters Magdalena (Sam) Cabastas, Mercedes Nakaza, 10 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, numerous aunts, uncles.

Sarah Hose

Sarah Kela Hose, 79, of Kailua-Kona, died Nov. 20, 2019, at Kona Community Hospital. Born Aug. 5, 1940, in Kona, she was a retired housekeeper at the Hukilau and Kona Surf Hotels.

A celebration of life will be held at 10 a.m. Jan. 11 at Hookena Beach, Cipriano’s lot. Scattering of her ashes will follow. The family requests casual attire and loose flowers are welcome.

She is survived by her son, Mark Hose of Kailua-Kona; daughters, Loreen Kamanawa of Kailua-Kona, Ralene Hymons of Ocean View, Arvilee Aloha Branch of Kailua-Kona; brothers, George Mamaka of Hilo, Philip Keohuloa of Kealkekua, Paul (Dolores) Keohuloa of Pahala; sister, Harriet Wentworth of Seattle, Mariah Haimoto of Hilo; four grandsons; 11 great-grandchildren; one godchild; hanai daughters, Shannon Hawk of North Dakota, Leilani Neddermeyer of Holualoa; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
