Easy impeachment vote

“Senators raise your right hands — if you think it is OK for a president or anyone else to ask a foreign government for help in getting elected to any office in the USA?” SNAP! — photo.

If less than 34 hands are showing, bye-bye, the Donald.

No response on recycling issue

I sent the following to council members Eoff and Villegas and never received a response.

As I explained in my last letter, I was off island for seven months thus out of the loop regarding current events.

Imagine my surprise when I made my first trip to the transfer station and found out that we are no longer able to deposit our recyclables in the recycle containers. I then read in the paper that the council is passing a “resolution” to require the two departments to come up with a plan?

What have these people been doing the last decade or two? Plastic just didn’t become a problem last month. The county says they don’t have enough people or money to sort the stuff.

First of all, who’s brilliant idea was it to have a mixed recycle bin? There was mention of having a bin for newspapers that got shot down saying not enough people would use it.

There should have been a bin for glass, paper, cans, plastic only and cardboard. Didn’t anybody realize that would eliminate the sorting problem?

I am not a climate changing, global warming tree hugger but I can not in good conscience throw HDPE 1 and 2 plastic in the landfill. Are you kidding me?

My plastic is piling up at an alarming rate. I looked into a shredder but they are in the neighborhood of $2,500 and even if I got one I still will have the plastic, albeit in condensed form.

It seems that the state’s way of dealing with this problem is banning plastic forks. I am totally befuddled!

We spent over $10 million babysitting TMT protesters, another unknown sum on wind farm protesters but we don’t have money for waste reduction facilities?

I am laughing at you guys simply to keep from crying,
