Firefighters douse carport fire in Kaumana

Fire officials are investigating the cause of an early Saturday structure fire in Kaumana.

Responding to the 1:32 a.m. report, Hawaii Fire Department personnel arrived about five minutes later at 782 La Hou Street to find a carport with flames visible from the east-facing window and heavy smoke, according to a press release. The carport was detached from the main structure on the property.

The fire was declared under control at 1:52 a.m. and extinguished at 2:20 a.m. The home did not sustain damage, according to the press release.

No injuries were reported and all HFD personnel were back in quarters by 4:15 a.m.
