Eden Roc Estates home destroyed by fire

No injuries were reported following a Tuesday evening fire that destroyed a two-story home in the Eden Roc Estates subdivision of Puna.

Responding to the 8:19 p.m. report, firefighters arrived at 11-1864 Kolea St. to find a 1,280-square-foot dwelling engulfed in in flames, according a press release from the Hawaii Fire Department. The wooden structure’s roof had already collapsed.

More than a dozen firefighters worked to douse the flames and were able to get the fire under control within 40 minutes, according to the department. The fire was declared out at 10:57 p.m.

Firefighters deemed the home a complete loss, noting damage at $160,000.

No injuries were reported and the dwelling was not occupied at the time, according to the department.
