KKCC slates AfterHours event

Meet, greet and connect to West Hawaii’s business community at the Kona-Kohala Chamber of Commerce (KKCC) AfterHours event from 5-7 p.m. March 18 hosted by Lex Brodie’s Kona.

Open to Chamber members and the public, this monthly networking opportunity is designed to expand business reach and build professional relationships in the local community.

The entry fee is $15 for KKCC members, $30 for general admission or $15 for first-time attendees. The March 18 event will be held at Lex Brodie’s Tires, Fast Lube and Car Wash on Kuakini Highway in Kailua-Kona.

The Kona-Kohala Chamber of Commerce is a nonprofit member organization with nearly 500 member businesses representing a variety of industries located in West Hawaii.

Pai named KS director of strategic communications

Darren Pai has been named director of strategic communications for Kamehameha Schools.

In partnership with leadership from across the organization, Pai is responsible for driving strategic communications efforts that promote, protect and enhance the KS brand with key stakeholders critical to Kamehameha’s continued success.

Prior to joining Kamehameha Schools, Pai served as director of corporate communications for real estate company Alexander & Baldwin. From 2007 through 2017, he held senior communications positions at Hawaiian Electric Company.

Before entering corporate communications, Pai worked as a news reporter for over a decade at media outlets including KHNL-TV, The Honolulu Advertiser, USA Today and the Honolulu Star-Bulletin.

Pai holds a bachelor’s degree in journalism from the University of Hawaii at Manoa.
