Costco gets a thumbs up
Thumbs up to Costco. Thank you, for making a very uneasy time easier.
My husband and I are kupuna. We held off shopping for provisions because we were uncomfortable with the general population crowding and scrambling in panic mode stripping everything off the shelves.
We waited until today and decided to venture to Costco expecting the worst scenario of settling for crumbs and still struggling with crowds.
We were amazed that we found a parking spot and then we were ushered politely to an organized line where there were clear instructions to keep a social distance of 6 feet. We were told we would be given a sanitized cart at the entrance. The policy was that only 50 people were allowed in the store at a time. The line moved quite fast and everyone was cordial.
There was a list of items that were out of stock outside so there were no disappointments. We got everything we needed, including a chicken.
The organization of the business and cleanliness was a perfect example of how a business should be run.

Travel ban? Absolutely
Travel ban? Absolutely. It’s a fact that the only way most things came to the islands were brought in from outside sources.
Everything from syphilis to mongoose. Lt. Gov. Josh Green and state Rep. Richard Creagan are spot on, no tourists for at least 30 to 45 days. We are an island nation and we cannot allow this virus to spread here in the islands. It will have dire consequences and we are isolated and not prepared.
Anyone coming back home should be tested right off the plane and made to sequester for 15 days. This is the only way to ensure that we are safe. Look at what we already know for a fact. The cases we have were all, with the exception of one case, were brought here by visitors.
Stay home please. Everything is shut down anyway. Hawaii is unique and very fragile. New Zealand and Australia already closed their doors. We should do the same.
And to Mayor Harry Kim, what on Earth are you thinking? I think you need to get a grip and change your message immediately. Remember, this is not forever. In the meantime, it is up to our leaders to make the right decisions and protect all of us who live here and call our beautiful islands home. Tourist, stay home.

Mayor, please help me understand
Is Mayor Kim basing his decision, “open for business” on medical advice? Do we have enough intensive care unit (ICU) beds and respiratory equipment on this island for those who become seriously ill from the virus? Is he planning on sending the sick to Honolulu for care? Please help me understand.
